Dafa practitioner Mr. Hu Wei was detained in Fushun City Labor Camp for almost a year. He staged a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention but was later sentenced to three years of forced labor. In early 2003, the camp officials planned to release him but requested that his family pay 10,000 Yuan. * This open extortion was refused. In May 2003, during the SARS plague, the camp authorities were about to release Hu again, but requested that his family pay 4,000 Yuan. Again the extortion was refused. Recently, authorities at the camp planned to release him a third time and requested that the family pay 5,000 Yuan. Usually, the camp officials don't talk about release unless the practitioner's condition is critical. No one knows the details of Hu Wei's current situation in the labor camp.

* Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.

Dafa Practitioners Ms. Ding Xiangying, Ms. Yan Aiying, Ms. Wang Junying, and Ms. Wang Guihua have been detained and tortured in Zhengzhou City's Shibalihe Female Labor Camp in Henan Province for 42 months. Their righteous thoughts and actions shocked the policemen in the labor camp.

Ding Xiangying escaped from the camp in Jiaozuo City using her righteous thoughts, but recently disappeared. She may have been arrested again. During a visit with her son in Guangzhou City, police called her three times every day to harass her.

Wang Guihua has been put into to a brainwashing center again for persecution.

Yan Aiying and Wang Junying are detained again at the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp.

In June 2003, police from Chongqing City arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Wei Xiaojun from Tongnan County.

On July 30, 2003, Mr. Tang Guangchun from Tongnan County was arrested, and his home was ransacked.

One night at about 1:00 a.m. in early August, police officers from Tongnan County broke into Dafa practitioner Ms. Yan Xianrong's home and attempted to arrest her husband. Her husband was not at home, so the police took her to the police office and attempted to force her to reveal her husband's whereabouts. She did not cooperate and is still detained.

On about July 9, Ms. Jiang Liru, who lives on Wanfu Road in the Dongshan District of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, was illegally taken to a brainwashing center by persecutors from the "610 Office."**

** "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

Ms. Zhao Sumei is a Dafa practitioner working for Liaozhong County's Suburban Public Health Center. On the night of July 13, 2003 while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials, Wang Jinsuo, a local farmer from Kabei Village, reported her to police. On July 18, she was arrested and taken to Shenyang City Detention Center, Political and Security Section of the Liaozhong County Police Department, and the Suburban Police Precinct. Recently, she was transferred to Shangyang City's Longshan Forced Labor Camp for two years of forced labor.

On the afternoon of August 7, policemen from the Political and Security Section of the Jiangchang County Police Department arrested Mr. Ma Guolan at his home. Because he refused to give up cultivation practice he was detained. He has gone on a hunger strike in protest at the detention center.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Baolai was arrested on the same day and was detained at the detention center. He has been on a hunger strike for many days to protest the persecution.

Policemen destroyed another Dafa materials production site in Puyang City's Zhongyuan Oil Field. A CD-burner and thousands of VCD discs were confiscated. Seven or eight Dafa practitioners were arrested. Between May and June, another site in the Zhongyan Oil Field area was destroyed.

The reason could be because the practitioners always distributed VCDs in close proximity to the materials site, which prompted the policemen to check every house. We should all be careful about security issues.
