Harsh Situation of Falun Dafa Practitioners at Shijiazhuang No. 2 Labor Camp as "610 Office" Acts with Utter Disregard for Human Life

Shijiazhuang No. 2 Labor Camp in Hebei Province has recently been moved to a new location in Zhaolingpu, in the north suburban area. It is also called the New No. 2 Labor Camp. Under orders from the "610 Office,"* the labor camp has been escalating its persecution of those illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners since 2001.

At the end of September 2001, many practitioners were abducted from a Shijiazhuang materials producing site. Yang Xiaojie, Zhang Shijun, Niu Mingang, Zhao Lishan, Liu Runling, Lan Qizhi, Zhang Lingjiang, Shi Yan, and Wang Manyun were listed as "important persons," and persecuted by the Department of Public Security. Liu Runling and Lan Qizhi were secretly jailed at the Shijiazhiuang No. 2 Jail on May 19, 2003. Lan Qizhi was later transferred to the Taihang Jail on July 3.

Practitioner Wang Manyun was arrested in August 2001 and detained at the No. 2 Labor Camp. Upon initiating a hunger strike during the 9^th month of illicit incarceration, her physical health decayed drastically. Then she was secretly and illegally sentenced to ten years in prison. On May 19, 2003, she was sent to the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Jail. The "610 Office" did not bother to inform her family.

Practitioner Bai Yuzhi was arrested in August 2002. Since then, she has held a hunger strike in protest. On April 10, 2003 she began to vomit blood. She was force-fed daily, and her nasal cartilage became distorted as a result. She almost went blind. She could barely walk and she was carried on the backs of those who force-fed her. The No. 2 Labor Camp reported her as being "critically ill," but the "610 Office" would not allow her to return home. On May 19, Bai Yuzhi and Wang Yunman were both sent to the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Jail. The current situation of Bai Yuzhi is very serious.

Shijiazhuang practitioners Yang Xiaojie, Zhang Shijun, Niu Mingang, and Zhao Lishan were all secretly sentenced to over ten years in prison. They were jailed at the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Labor Camp in November 2001. The conditions at the No. 2 labor camp are very bad, and they contracted scabies. At the beginning of July 2003, Niu Mingang, who was illegally sentenced to twelve years, was sent to the Shijiazhuang No. 4 Jail and was subjected to brainwashing there. When his family came to visit him, they were turned away. The prison guards shouted, "If he will not recant his beliefs we will not allow him any visitors." Since the guilty parties have blocked the information, the situation of the other practitioners remains unknown at the present time.

Practitioner Liu Xing, who was a security guard at the Shijiazhuang No. 4 Hospital, was taken away on May 26, 2003 and later illegally detained at the No. 2 Labor Camp. Liu Xing was handcuffed and tortured after calling out "Falun Dafa is good."

Qi Hongmian and her husband, Mr. Yang, were both arrested. At the old No. 2 Labor Camp, they went on a hunger strike for 16 days, were force-fed every day, and kept handcuffed. At the beginning of July, they were transferred to the new No. 2 Labor Camp.

Taking into consideration the present difficult situation of the practitioners in the jail, we hope those practitioners who read this news will send forth righteous thought to eliminate the evil factors that are behind the torture.
