A Dafa practitioner in Beijing

(Clearwisdom.net, August 12, 2003) July 20 was approaching again [date of the beginning of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999]. During the past four years, Falun Gong practitioners have walked a difficult journey. They have been doing everything they are supposed to do. I decided to do something at this special time.

On July 22, I came to Tiananmen Square with a banner to validate the Fa and to eliminate the evil. I silently recited Master's teaching, "If a cultivator can let go of the thought of life and death under any circumstance, evil is sure to be afraid of him. If every student is able to do this, evil will of itself no longer exist. All of you are already aware of the principle of mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition. If you are not afraid, the factor that would make you afraid will cease to exist. This is not to be self-imposed, but is achieved by truly and calmly letting go of it." ("Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)") I affirmed to myself that I would stay righteous and without fear. The old forces don't deserve to test Dafa practitioners. Whenever people came to me, I told them the truth with patience. They are sentient beings fooled by the evil, and they deserve salvation. I have done this many times in the past.

At noon, I arrived at Tiananmen Square. There were not too many tourists. Six police vans were parked there. I started from the Mao Zedong Memorial and walked slowly. Without hesitation, I began to shout some words to praise Dafa while walking towards the fence of the flagpole. People were looking at me. But policemen and undercover agents were nowhere to be seen. I found a place to sit down and rest. A military policeman happened to sit next to me. I found a chance and inserted some Dafa material into his bag. Then I stood up and walked toward the flagpole. With a calm mind, I took out the 1.5 meter long banner and quickly tied both ends to the fence. Now, tourists were constantly passing by and they were looking at me. I could see quite a few policemen and plainclothesmen nearby, but they were not aware of what happened.

After that, I crossed through the tunnel and came to the Jinshui Bridge in front of Tiananmen Gate. The area was more crowded with tourists. I told people about Dafa and handed out flyers to them. Many people were glad to receive the flyers and thanked me. Some people did not accept them, but they reminded me to be careful. When policemen came, people would intentionally block their view and urged me to leave.

Later, I came to the Working People's Cultural Palace. When I bought a ticket to the Palace, I left some flyers at the ticket booth. I also left some flyers on the door handle of the gate when I exited. As a result, I distributed 28 truth-clarifying flyers to people.

Thanks to Master's protection, today's Dafa validation at Tiananmen was a success. I was also inspired by fellow practitioners' righteous minds and actions even under illegal detention.
