The Cruel Persecution Suffered by My Family: Husband Detained as Hostage, Mother Died in Worry and Anger
(Clearwisdom.net) On May 29, 2001, seven of us went to Beijing to validate Dafa. We were
arrested and escorted back to the county detention center. The next day, my family came to persuade
me to give up cultivation and write a "guarantee letter," giving up my cultivation in Dafa.
I knew that Dafa was good, and my family's suffering was the result of this irrational persecution,
so I refused to write anything. The deputy chief of the police department and the head of the
detention center continued to try to persuade me. I remembered that Master had said, "Just by
staying unaffected, you will be able to handle all situations." (Lecture on the Fa at the
U.S. Midwest Conference) So I just kept silent no matter who spoke to me. They were at their
wits' end, so they had to let me go. At around 8:00 p.m. on May 31, they interrogated me again. I
kept sending righteous thoughts. They interrogated me for the whole night and eventually became
tired. Four of them went to sleep. Under the protection of Master, I was able to walk out of the
police station. On the next day at around 9:00 a.m., my son took me on his motorcycle to the home of
my second daughter in Shijiazhuang City. On June 1, the night my son came back from Shijiazhuang,
the police barged into my home and confiscated the motorcycle without giving any explanation. It
still has not been returned. Following my departure, the police came to my home to look for me to no avail. With no search
warrant, they went to my eldest daughter's home to look for me. They failed to find me again. Then
they took my husband to the police station to be held as a hostage, and didn't give him anything to
eat. My husband is an honest man. He got so angry, anxious and afraid that he had a heart attack.
The police station was afraid of taking responsibility if he lost his life, so they informed my son
to take my husband back home. When my son went there, they wanted to detain my son as a hostage in
my husband's place. After my son negotiated with them, they did not arrest him. However, that made
my son very worried all day long. He hid in different places and dared not to stay at home, so his
business was affected badly. The police even threatened to not let my daughter-in-law go back to
work (she worked at the electrical power bureau and was on maternity leave at that time). My family
situation was a mess. The police went to harass and threaten my family every other day and caused
them much distress. I lived in my second daughter's home for more than 20 days before I left. With the help of fellow
practitioners, I found other fellow practitioners who were forced to leave home to avoid
persecution. Ever since then, for two years, I have devoted myself to clarifying the truth about
Dafa to everyone I can reach. Because I was forced to stay away from home to avoid the persecution, all the burdens of the
family rested upon the shoulders of my husband. He had to take care of my paralyzed, bedridden
mother in her 80s by himself. My husband had a really hard time and lost a lot of weight. The police even implicated my first daughter, who is a reporter. Since I was taken back from
Beijing, she was not allowed to do interviews in the villages. After I left home, the police
informed the TV station to keep her from coming to work. They even said, "The moment you get
your mother to come back, you can go to work." The police even drove to my second daughter's
residence to harass her twice. My mother was in her 80s. Since her paralysis in 1996, she mostly lived with us. After I left
home, I could no longer take care of her. Because I am her only daughter, my mom often called out my
name while she laid there. She passed away without me at her side at the end of last year. I could
not take care of her before her death and could not bury her after her death. Only because I
practice "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," my family was broken up because of the
persecution by Jiang's regime. What I experienced was only the tip of the iceberg; hundreds and
thousands of fellow practitioners have suffered inhuman torture. The crimes that Jiang has committed
against practitioners who cultivate "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" are countless.
