(Clearwisdom.net August 13, 2003) Mengyin County, located North of Meng Mountain in Shandong Province, has a population of over 500,000. According to County 610 Office,* internal statistics, about 12,000 people there are Falun Gong practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, more than 120 practitioners have been illegally sentenced to prison or forced labor camps, and one person (Zhang Dezhen) died as a result of the persecution. The crimes of the illicit "610 office" and its lawless personnel who persecute Falun Dafa practitioners by means of fines, detention, brain washing, etc are too numerous to mention one by one.

On September 20 and October 29, 2002, the police destroyed two materials-producing sites in Mengyin County and Linyi City, Shandong Province and several Falun Dafa practitioners were illegally arrested.

Three practitioners, including Teng Defang from Mengyin County, were illegally sentenced to prison

On October 29, 2002, Dafa practitioners Mr. Teng Defang, Mr. Li Yongxin and Ms. Du Fengjuan were illegally arrested by police. In May 2003, fabricated charges were brought against them by the procuratorate of Mengyin County. As a result, Mr. Teng was illegally sentenced to 4 years in prison, and Mr. Li and Ms. Du were given 3 years each.

Mr. Teng Defang, was born in 1955. He was a government official at the deputy bureau director level in Old Cadre Bureau. He lives in the Relatives' Compound of Mengyin County Resort Center for Government Officials. In 2000 he was forced to leave home to avoid persecution and be able to continue to clarify the truth and validate Dafa. He has a daughter who is in college and his wife runs a small business to make a living. Mr. Teng was detained in No.1 Detention Center of Linyi City, and in June was sent to the forced labor camp.

Mr. Li Yongxin was born in 1958. He lives in a compound of Nanfang Credit Union of Linyi City. In 2001 he was forced to leave home to avoid persecution and continue to clarify the truth. He was also illegally detained in No.1 Detention Center of Linyi City and sent to forced labor camp in June.

Ms. Du Fengjuan, was born in 1969, and is a technical college graduate. She is an employee of the Construction Committee of Tancheng County and lives in the Construction Committee of Tancheng County compound. The location where she is detained is not known.

The people responsible for the illegal sentencing of the above Falun Dafa practitioners:

The items seized: 55 Falun Dafa books, 148 audio tapes, 66 bottles of color ink, 16 laser printer toner cartridges, 3 IBM laptops, 1 WinBook notebook, 21,000 sheets of printer paper, 1,530 sheets of color photo paper, 1 tape recorder, one set of video tapes, 1 mini color TV, 5 color printers (including 1 color laser printer), 2 CD burners, 6 CD players, 1 laminating machine, 1 paper cutting machine, 1 scanner, 1 desktop computer, 7 cellular phones, 5 pagers, 60,000 sheets of other paper, 1 photocopier, and large amount of personal savings.

Falun Dafa practitioners will further cherish the opportunity to clarify the truth and save sentient beings that our great Teacher has provided us with. We will be strict with ourselves and do things according to Dafa. We will do what we should and not let the old force find any loopholes.

Five Falun Dafa practitioners in Mengyin County including Gong Maohai, Teng Derong were illegally sentenced to prison

On March 28, 2003, the lawless personnel in Mengyin County held a so-called "open trial" for Falun Dafa practitioners Gong Maohai, Ms. Gong Shuhua, Mr. Wu Zengjian, Mr. Shi Zenglei, and others, who had all been detained for half a year already. This so-called "open trial" was merely a show. The judge disregarded the Falun Dafa practitioners' righteous voices and pleas. In the end, practitioner Gong Maohai was illegally sentenced to 5 years in prison, Ms. Teng Derong was given 5 years in prison, Gong Shuhua was given 4 years, Wu Zengjian was given 4 years, and Mr. Shi Zenglei was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Gong Maohai is a technical college graduate. He is an employee of Daming Stone Material Factory in Mengyin County, Shandong Province. He was put under administrative detention on April 5, 2000 for practicing Falun Gong, and was under criminal detention on April 8, 2000 and January 21, 2001. He has a daughter who is in college and lives on her own. He was detained in Pingyi County Detention Center in Shandong Province.

Ms. Teng Derong was born in 1953 and is employed by the Construction Committee in Mengyin County, and lives in their compound. She was forced to leave home to avoid persecution and has since clarified the truth to people. Her husband Yang Zhenfang, a former cadre of the Construction Committee in Mengyin County, and former head of the Falun Dafa assistance center of Mengyin County, was illegally sentenced to 3 years of forced labor after July 20 1999 (he is now released). Ms. Teng's father is over 70 years old and is all alone.

Mr. Wu Zengjian, born in 1959, is a high school graduate from Duozhuang Village, Duozhuang Town, Mengyin County. He was detained on October 20, 1999, and was forced to leave home in Spring 2001 to avoid persecution and be able to keep on clarifying the truth. During that time, his wife Qi Chengrong (also a Falun Dafa practitioner) was illegally sentenced to forced labor.

Ms. Gong Shuhua was born in 1978 and lives in Jinqianguan Village, Tanbu Town, Mengyin County. In Spring 2000, she was illegally detained by the Tanbu Town government for more than 5 months and illegally fined 10,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, an average Chinese urban worker's monthly income is about 500 Yuan]. She was forced to leave home in spring 2001 to avoid persecution and still clarify the truth. Her mother, Mrs. Hui Zenghua was illegally sentenced to 3 years of forced labor in spring 2001, just for practicing Falun Dafa. At the same time, her younger brother Gong Pibin was also illegally sentenced to forced labor. Her younger sister Gong Shuqin worked while studying in high school, she is now a freshman in college, we can imagine how difficult it has been for her.

Mr. Shi Zenglei was born in 1956 and worked in a feed company in Mengyin County before becoming unemployed. On February 24, 2000, he was illegally detained. He has a young child and a mother over 80, and they all depend on his wife's small business for a living.

On September 2002, after Gong Maohai, Mr. Teng Derong, Ms. Gong Shuhua, Mr. Wu Zengjian, and Mr. Shi Zenglei's materials-producing sites were destroyed, the loss of equipment includes: 3 high speed copiers, 2 ink jet printers, 3 laser printers, 1 computer print-plate making machine; 2 computer notebooks, 1 "all-in-one" print/fax/photocopier, 6 cellular phones, 5 pagers, 1 motorcycle, and 10,000 Yuan personal savings. The "610 Office" at the Public Security Bureau of Mengyin County also took away other essential consumer goods.

The responsible people who illegally sentenced the above Falun Dafa practitioners:

Clerk of Mengyin County Court: Zhang Xiaoying

Head of the "610 Office" at the Mengyin County Public Security Bureau: Li Peiyu; Director: Zhang Yong; also policeman Mr. Zhao, over 30; Mr. Wang Wei, over 20. The policemen of the County "610 Office" and vice squad persecute kindhearted Falun Gong practitioners. Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Dezhen died when she was on hunger strike during illegal detention: she died as a result of the persecution on January 31, 2003. But the police lied to people, saying that Ms. Zhang died from acute myocarditis which caused her respiratory system to fail.

According to information, all of the above Falun Dafa practitioners who were illegally sentenced have already been sent to the forced labor camps in Jinan City and other areas. While being detained in different detention centers, practitioners always maintain the character standard of Falun Dafa practitioners, and clarify the truth to people around them. They also brought Falun Dafa practitioners' elegant demeanor to the prisons. Many policemen and inmates in prison who learned the truth all say, "Falun Dafa is good," "They are really good people," and "I also want to practice Falun Gong."

*The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.
