Some Thoughts On Recurring Tribulations and Rationality Versus Fear

(Clearwisdom.net)

1) Holding Onto Attachments Makes One's Heart Impure

A practitioner's inability to give up his attachments can cause his heart to become impure, and this is usually the fundamental cause of recurring tribulations that happen to some practitioners. Usually before these tribulations occur, Master will drop hints again and again to help the practitioners enlighten to the attachments they should eliminate, but some practitioners still cannot enlighten to it even after a long period of time. Those practitioners who have enlightened to it but who fail to eliminate their attachments due to laziness and a weak main consciousness can create loopholes for the evil to take advantage of endlessly and put them into dangerous situations. It is almost certain that Master has already given us plenty of time to improve before this happens; it's just that we fail to do so. Here I would like to remind fellow practitioners that whenever our hearts are impure, we must look within ourselves for the causes, be strict with our thoughts and behavior, and not let our righteous thoughts falter even a bit. At the same time, we need to understand that only through improving our xinxing (moral character, heart-mind nature) fundamentally can we validate Dafa and help save more sentient beings. Avoiding tribulations alone cannot be our motivation for improving xinxing.

2) Being Rational Does Not Mean Covering Up One's Attachment to Fear

Some practitioners have held onto the attachment of fear for a long period of time, and it manifests whenever they do work to validate Dafa. They are scared of being arrested, and if they are arrested, they are afraid that they will be tortured and that they will betray other practitioners as a result of being unable to endure the torture. Even though they appear to stress being very careful and rational when doing Dafa work, they still run into dangerous situations through strange combinations of events throughout their daily lives. I think these dangerous situations occur because even though these practitioners do a good job at paying attention to the outward form of things and being careful, they have not fundamentally let go of fear. The old forces then arrange dangerous situations for them to run into to "help" them get rid of this attachment. Dafa practitioners must indeed face everything rationally, but the purpose of doing so is to help us maximally conform to ordinary human society, not to avoid dangers that we are afraid of. As a matter of fact, without fear, practitioners will remain safe, even though they may not look as careful as others on the surface.
