With Teacher's benevolent care and help, we successfully finished the task of touring all over South Korea to clarify the truth. Here we would like to share with fellow practitioners some of our experiences. Please correct us if we have written anything inappropriate.
1. Righteous Thoughts and State of Mind
All the practitioners who joined the activity knew from the beginning that this tour wouldn't be easy, but we were ready to handle any interferences. As a matter of fact, the police started to monitor our actions under pressure from the Chinese Embassy. We all came to realize that there are eyes watching in each particle of the air. In other dimensions sentient beings, both positive and negative, were watching us. The evil would take advantage of us if we had any omissions. Passersby, drivers, policemen, and spies from the Chinese Embassy were all watching us. They would interfere with us or even stop us from continuing the activity if they found any excuse. Therefore, we needed to constantly keep powerful righteous thoughts and righteous actions. Actually, our pure righteousness itself was a good way to clarify the truth to people. As a result, our actions won the trust and support of the people we met. Gradually, the police officers started to trust us and lend us genuine assistance. Starting from Andong City, the police stopped following us around. They were completely convinced that we are good people. We always went to the police station to clarify the truth to the police in each city we visited.
We slacked off a little after we successfully broke through the initial interferences, and we soon found we were no longer getting good results when clarifying the truth to various different institutions. After looking inside, we paid more attention to sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate our attachments of zealotry and self-complacency so that we could calmly face any situation. After that, we got an unexpected chance to talk to two directors from two counties without making any appointments with them in advance. This time we achieved very positive results when we clarified the truth to them. We came to realize that the results of clarifying the truth are closely related to our state of mind. We shouldn't become satisfied with any good results since any impure state of mind would be taken advantage of by the evil.
2. Teacher's Benevolent Care and Help
The practitioners who were responsible for clarifying the truth to institutions didn't have much experience in this area. They were not sure how to schedule a meeting with mayors or congressional representatives. Then they bumped into a parade. They talked to the participants and asked for suggestions on contacting public officials. Those people were very glad to offer help. They told our fellow practitioners how to make appointments and other contacts. But where could they find those congressional representatives? As they looked around, they found the Congressional Office right in front of them! Starting from the City of Ulsan, the police offered to be our guides. They brought us to city halls, police stations, newspaper offices, radio stations, TV stations, and congressional offices. It saved us a lot of time.
Those practitioners who were on foot during the tour walked all day long every day. When it was time to send forth righteous thoughts or when it was time for lunch or dinner, a park or some trees or a wayside pavilion would appear. Their breakfast was rice or instant noodles that they cooked. Lunch was generally a few crackers. Even so, they didn't feel hungry even after a whole day of walking. Actually, they started to get rid of the attachment for regular meals. There were a few difficult days during the walk. Then, on July 1, reporters from two different media sources braved a heavy rain to interview them, which greatly encouraged those practitioners.
3. Truly from Our Hearts
Every morning when we gathered together, holding up banners and playing the music of Pudu, we would feel the sacred mission that we are supposed to carry out.
The tour was conducted during the rainy season in South Korea, and it was hot. The average temperature was over ninety degrees every day. When it didn't rain, practitioners braved the scorching sun, walking on the hot asphalt and carrying various kinds of truth-clarification materials. Their feet were blistered and bleeding. Still, they actively distributed materials to the motorists and passersby. They carried materials to shopping malls as well as fields so that shop owners as well as farmers could learn that Falun Gong is being persecuted and Jiang is being brought to justice. When it rained, they wrapped the materials in plastic. Though the rain filled their shoes and irritated their blisters, they kept distributing materials. One of the practitioners was eighty-one. She walked about twenty miles each day. Many people got interested in learning about Falun Gong when they saw her how healthy and how determined she was. She had gone to China several times with truth-clarification CDs in her luggage, yet the Chinese customs never discovered them. In Shandong Province, one of the places where the persecution was most vigorously pursued, she distributed over six thousand truth-clarification CD's to households in many different communities. Another practitioner was sixty-nine. He was the most efficient at distributing materials, and so he carried more materials than others did. Even though the strap on his bag blistered his shoulders, he still happily handed truth-clarification materials to people and explained to them what was happening. No matter where they went, even when they went shopping or to internet cafés to go online, they would bring some materials with them and clarify the truth to people. They often had tears in their eyes when clarifying the truth, and we could all tell that they were truly putting their hearts into helping others learn the truth.
Just as Teacher said,
"Throughout history people have declared that they would save sentient beings. But who knew the true meaning of saving sentient beings? You are truly saving sentient beings, and only you are worthy of doing something this magnificent. Make sure you don't lose this opportunity!" (Touring North America to Teach the Fa)
We all came to have a deeper understanding of this Fa principle after this tour.
4. Cooperating as One Body
During the tour, the practitioners from all the different routes cooperated as one body. We didn't have any arguments as before. Once the itinerary was set up, everybody followed. When we found an omission, we would raise the issue in time or quietly make up for it. Some practitioners learned that we needed a lot of truth-clarification materials. They helped to prepare those materials and deliver them to us. Although many practitioners were very busy, they helped to deliver the materials and joined the tour during holidays or their vacations. This activity went on very smoothly because of the great cooperation among practitioners. During this coordination with each other, the practitioners became more mature.
5. Not Forgetting Individual Cultivation during the Fa-Rectification Process
The practitioners in the route that covers the middle of the country tried their best to send forth righteous thoughts every hour on the hour around the clock. In addition, whenever they arrived in a city, they would first practice the Falun Dafa exercises. One reason for doing this was to help the local citizens learn about Falun Gong and pave the way for clarifying the truth. The other reason for practicing the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts was to re-energize themselves. After dinner, no matter how late it was, they would study the Fa and share understandings with each other. Once they walked such a long way that it was after 10:30 at night when they finally got settled, but they still studied the Fa. Every night, they didn't go to bed until after sending forth righteous thoughts at 1 a.m. They got up at 5 a.m. every morning to practice the meditation exercises, send forth righteous thoughts, and study Teacher's new articles. Even though they only slept three or four hours a night, they were all full of energy.
6. Some Problems That We Uncovered
The practitioners in the route that covers the middle of the country crossed thirty-four cities and counties. They found that we didn't do a balanced job when clarifying the truth. In those areas where more people knew about Falun Dafa, the local police and other departments would give us a lot of support and encouragement. For example, the police in Seoul assisted us a great deal during this activity. In fact, in 2001 the Police Department in Suwon had issued a "Thank You" letter to the local practitioners since they had helped many policemen obtain the Fa. Those policemen had become very strict with themselves and did a great job in serving the communities. The police in Daejeon knew Falun Gong practitioners to be very polite, compassionate, and easy to deal with, so they all wanted to help with the practitioners' activities. Meanwhile, people in remote areas only knew a little about Falun Gong and the persecution that practitioners have been suffering. When we further explained the truth to them, they were all shocked that Falun Gong had been so brutally persecuted. One of the policemen said, "I heartily sympathize with you. While I need to carry out commands from higher authorities, I will be flexible with you. I hope you won't give up. Eventually, you will win!"
We can see that we need to pay more attention to clarifying the truth to people living in remote areas, and we need to strengthen our truth-clarification to high-level governmental officials. As we understand it, when people see through the evil nature of Jiang's gang, the evil will have no place to hide, and it will be extinguished.
