(Clearwisdom.net) The Committee Secretary in question is seventy years old. He was a state-operated party secretary prior to retirement. His daughter is a Falun Gong practitioner and was a middle manager of a large corporation. She was arrested when she went to Beijing several times to appeal for Falun Gong to the government. Due to her firm belief in Falun Dafa, she refused to compromise and surmounted all obstacles.

In March 2000, several practitioners went to the secretary's home to share experiences with his daughter. This was where I met him for the first time. He wore a serious countenance, and was predisposed to believe in the state-controlled media propaganda denigrating Falun Dafa. He tried to convert us to "Jiang's gang" (short for Jiang Zemin's Gestapo type henchmen who persecute Falun Dafa practitioners). Since July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin initiated the vicious suppression of Falun Gong, the media has continued to fabricate lies about Falun Gong that had seriously poisoned this party secretary's beliefs. Due to ten years of state-influenced thinking and obedience to his superiors, he was incapable of accepting the truth that we tried to convey to him. Even though he knew his daughter to be innocent, he was still worried about her killing him, due to the lies that the state had indoctrinated in him. He was always very careful and nervous, and took measures to prevent bad things from happening. He would hide all the knives and locked his bedroom door at night before going to bed.

In February 2001, several of us went to his home again to share our experiences with his daughter, but were forbidden to enter. When we asked his daughter to come out, he refused to let her. She cried, but failed to persuade him to let her out, and eventually stayed in the house.

In March 2001, I wandered away from home for over a year to avoid persecution. One day I received 500 yuan [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] from this old gentleman. He sent the money because he was shocked at the vicious persecution that I was enduring. (He had also written a letter about practitioners wandering away from their homes, but regrettably it was lost.) I was very happy to see this man's conversion from an opponent to a proponent of Falun Dafa. I gave the money to practitioners to make truth-clarifying materials. I also sent my gratitude to the old gentleman.

One night in December 2003, some practitioners invited me to visit a government official at his home to clarify the truth. But due to miscommunication we weren't able to do so. Since the place where we met was not too far from the old gentleman's house, we went to visit the old gentleman instead. He had completely changed from when I last saw him two-and-a-half years ago: younger-looking, vibrant and happy. He entertained us enthusiastically. I again expressed my thanks for the 500 yuan he had given me. He was happily listening to our experience sharing and often nodded his head in agreement with what we were saying about exposing the evil and clarifying the truth. He expressed his opinion on the truth-clarifying pamphlets we had put together. I was amazed at what he expressed about the Fa. By this time, his daughter told me, "You may not know that my father has started cultivating Falun Dafa. He reads at least one lecture from Zhuan Falun every day...."That is why he has changed so much in both his inner manner and appearance. I also realized that he not only read the lectures and exercised, but also used every opportunity to clarify the truth. He often went to the home of the people he was familiar with to clarify the truth. One time while attending his nephew's wedding, he talked for a long time about the truth of Dafa and gave every one a truth-clarifying CD as well.

As we were about to leave, he gave me 800 yuan and told me to let him know if I had any financial difficulties in the future. Of course, I once again used the money for making truth-clarifying materials.

This old gentleman, who was once a party committee member, walked though three stages of life: an opponent of Falun Dafa, a proponent for Falun Dafa, and finally a Falun Dafa practitioner. I am so happy with what has happened to him. From this, I see the inclination to learn the Truth arising in people's minds.
