Aspiring to Justice: Impressions After Reading Zhuan Falun

(Clearwisdom.net) Editor's note: The following article was written by a person living in China who doesn't practice Falun Dafa after he had read Zhuan Falun [main teachings of Falun Dafa]. His understanding reflects his kind and honest aspirations.

Presently, there are still people in China who turn pale at the mere mention of Falun Dafa. This is because they do not know the facts, and they do not understand what is written in the book Zhuan Falun, nor do they know the state of mind of the people who have studied the book and how they conduct themselves. If people knew the facts, they would be able to determine what is right and what is wrong, and they would understand that Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance are the eternal universal principles.

I am not a Falun Dafa practitioner. Just by chance, and out of curiosity, I read Mr. Li's book, Zhuan Falun. After reading it, I understood what Falun Dafa was about. I now realize that Falun Dafa is not at all like what certain people told us, such as "it is a sect; its disciples commit homicide or self-immolation." All those scandals were fabricated tactics created by people with ulterior motives to justify their persecution of Falun Dafa.

I think the content of Zhuan Falun is a scientific truth. It is centered on the universal characteristics of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance," and the book explains to people the truth of this world from another angle: What is virtue, what is truth, and how mankind should face her future and other serious issues.

From Mr. Li's elaborations on the universe, I have come to the following understandings:

The celestial bodies mankind has observed with the help of modern science and technology are actually phenomena in their previous existence, not in their current forms. Why is that? Assuming we have observed a celestial body that is 150,000 light-years from earth, what we can see now is actually the form of the body 150,000 years ago, not the current form, because it would take us 150,000 years to see the light it gives out now. (The above is only my personal understanding) Can we call these expositions idealist conceptions, superstitious or pseudo-scientific?

Looking at Mr. Li's explanations of "cultivation" I have the following understanding on what a person should cultivate and how he cultivates. A person should base his cultivation on the eternal principle of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, and while we cultivate ourselves we are also benefiting others.

Let us not talk about how high a level a Falun Dafa practitioner is able to understand the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance." I'm only talking about how I understand this as an ordinary person. I think the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance are very good. They encourage people to be kind to each other. If everyone would act according to these principles, there would be no crimes, no evil deeds or war. Happiness and kindness would abound everywhere. People would do his/her duty in creating our brilliant civilization. What a promising prospect! How can this be wrong? How can this be "anti-mankind and anti-society?" It is even more ridiculous to suggest that this is political.

Several days ago one of my friends (a Falun Dafa practitioner) shared a personal experience she had. She once took a bus to visit her family members back home. An old lady on the bus was begging because she had no money to pay for the bus ticket. So my friend bought her some food and also paid for her ticket. She did this simply out of kindness. If this had happened in an earlier era, everyone would be willing to extend a helping hand and there would be more warmth and less misery in society. However, in today's society, people did not seem to understand why she helped this old lady, and they started to gossip, and one passenger even told the old lady to "get off the bus" since she did not have money and asked her to "give the money back." Listening to her story I joked, "I thought all kind-hearted people have died out in this society. Who would have expected that there is still one alive!" Although I said this as a joke, it was truly how I felt. Later I found out that all Dafa practitioners are good and kindhearted people. While exhibiting good conduct themselves, they are enhancing the morals of society.

The above is a good example to show the deteriorating morality in today's society. It makes a person worry!

Falun Dafa promotes the principle of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance," and in essence this is to guide mankind to get back on the right track and to save the future of mankind. If one still has a sense of justice and still has a conscience, then he will know that Falun Dafa is righteous, and the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" are very good!

I am just an ordinary person, an ordinary Chinese, who still has a conscience. Why do I write all this? It is because I now know the truth, I still have a conscience, I still cherish the code of conduct as a human being, and I still hold the belief that in order for society to progress, people should first improve themselves.

In order that the eternal principles of Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance forever stay to upgrade people's minds, in order to revive the degenerated human morality so that mankind does not end up with self-destruction, hundreds of thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners have devoted their lives and many have lost their lives. Their magnificent deeds moved me to tears. I firmly believe that righteousness will eventually overcome and triumph over evil.
