(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Sun Jianzhong is thirty-eight years old and lives in Fengrun Town, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Because he went to Beijing to validate Dafa, he had 17,000 Yuan RMB extorted from him by the authorities. In early February of 2001, because he refused to give up his belief, he was arrested and taken to the Xiaobali brainwashing class in the Fengrun District. Several people locked him in a small room and beat him up. His mouth was swollen and bleeding. The head of the brainwashing class Shi Aicheng burned his neck with a red hot iron. There was an area on his neck about the size of a palm that was severely burned and the scar still remains today. Later, he was transferred to a Fengrun detention center. In July of 2001, he was forced to pay a fine of 3,000 Yuan before he was finally released.

In 2002, the former director of the Fengrun District "610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) On many occasions, Wei Jiulin abducted practitioners and took them to brainwashing centers. In August 2002, Lu Gangshuang and Li Jinhu, both from Fengrun Town, along with another twenty people broke into Sun Jianzhong's house to arrest him. Sun's wife tried to stop them but they slapped her across the face and her clothes were torn during the ensuing struggle. The vicious gangsters dragged Sun Jianzhong to the police car and sent him to the Xiaobali brainwashing center. Two days later, Sun managed to escape and he had to remain homeless to avoid further persecution.

At the end of December of 2002, the Fengrun public security bureau once again arrested Sun Jianzhong. He was brutally tortured there. They shocked him with an electric baton. Afterwards they handcuffed his hands from behind, tied him up to a steel chair, wrapped his fingers with copper wire and poured cold water on his hands. They then connected the copper wire to a telephone and gave him electric shocks by dialing the phone. Sun was electrically shocked until his whole body was having seizures and foam came out from his mouth. The scene was terrible to look at. His fingers were severely burned and many inner organs were injured. Sun Jianzhong went on a hunger strike to protest the torture and his life was in grave danger. The police sent him to the Ankang hospital in Tangshan, in the name of providing him with medical treatment when in fact they were plotting another round of torture to subject him to. Several people tied him up on a bed and injected him with nerve-damaging drugs. His feet were shackled and metal cut into his flesh until the bone was exposed. About two weeks later he was transferred to the Tangshan First Detention Center where he received further torture. Later he was again transferred to the Fengrun Detention Center. Sun Jianzhong continued his hunger strike. The police ordered inmates to beat him up. They handcuffed him to a chair, pinched his nose and force-fed him. Sun Jianzhong was tortured to the edge of death. Fearing responsibility for his death, the authorities ordered his family to take him home.

After he went home, they would not leave him alone. The Fengrun public security bureau ordered the Fengrun town and security office to monitor his activities twenty-four hours a day. Thirteen days later, they once again abducted him and took him to the Fengrun Detention Center. Sun continued the hunger strike. Police ordered inmates to tie him up to the bed, then they forcefully opened his mouth and force-fed him. The inmates also force fed him with urine and beat him up until his mouth was seriously injured and bruises were all over his body. He was unable to stand up after being released from the bed. The left side of his body was numb and paralyzed. He needed with his daily necessities. Finally, he was released.

However that is not the end of the story.

The police sent people to take turns watching him. At night there was a police car blocking the entrance. Within one month after Sun was released, the director of the Fengrun Public Security Bureau Li Chunyuan, along with Zeng Xianghai and Qi Lianfu, as well as several dozens of people from the public security office and other government offices, broke into Sun Jianzhong's house and tried to arrest him again. After cutting through the security door with a welding torch, the police broke into his apartment. Sun Jianzhong threw himself against the wall. The police dragged him out by force despite Sun's mother loud weeping. The brutality of the police shocked the whole residential area and people started to think again about the entire campaign of persecution against Falun Gong.

As of this date, Sun Jianzhong has been detained at the Tangshan First Detention Center for eight months. He is still on a hunger strike although the details are not yet clear. On November 3, 2003, the Lubei court convened a trial against him. Sun shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" in the courtroom. The authorities ended the trial in a hurry.
