Italy: In Mourning For Dafa Practitioner Liu Chengjun (Photos)

(Clearharmony.net) From January 2nd to the 9th 2004, Falun Gong practitioners appealed outside the Chinese Consulate in Milan and mourned the death of Changchun Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun. Liu died on December the 26th 2003 after being viciously tortured and abused by police officers following orders from the Jiang regime. He was imprisoned because he interrupted a Chinese cable TV network to broadcast the facts about Falun Gong. Dafa practitioners in Italy asked all those who believe in justice to condemn this atrocity and call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. In addition, they urged people to support Falun Gong practitioners' righteous deeds of upholding the truth and exposing the evil. They also demanded that the murderers who killed Dafa practitioner Liu Chengjun be severely punished.

Practitioners set up an open-air altar in front of the consulate. It was simple but solemn. Liu Chengjun's photo, taken while he was imprisoned, was displayed on a base covered with a white cloth and bearing silk flowers while several candles burned nearby. A banner reading "Mourn for Changchun Dafa Practitioner Liu Chengjun; Severely Punish the Instigator Jiang Zemin and his Accomplices" in both Chinese and Italian was hung high above the altar. Another banner reading "No One can Escape Justice; Jiang Zemin Must be Tried" was hung near the right-hand side of the altar. Banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good", "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and a huge photo displaying the facts about the persecution were displayed on the picket fence in front of the consulate. All of these displays were very eye-catching.

During the activity, practitioners met many people with justice in their hearts. When passing the display some drivers slowed down, while others expressed support by waving. Passers-by stopped to find out more and ask for information one after another. One local man insisted on giving practitioners money. Because there were only Chinese practitioners present at the time and none of them understood Italian, practitioners didn't know what he meant. They simply declined the offer, and told him that Falun Gong practitioners do not accept donations. Afterwards, with help from a kind-hearted Chinese gentleman who passed by, practitioners finally realized that he wanted them to buy flowers on his behalf to express his respect for Liu Chengjun. After learning the facts about the persecution, some Chinese people who went to the consulate on business expressed their mourning in front of his photo. They were very angry at Jiang Zemin's persecution. Practitioners unceasingly explained the facts about the persecution to many people.

On March 5 2002, eight channels on the Changchun cable TV network aired "Falun Dafa around the World", "Self-immolation or Staged Event" and other documentary programs. The broadcast lasted 40-50 minutes without interruption. This broadcast allowed many people to discover the facts about the campaign of slander and persecution against Falun Gong, and sent a shockwave through Mainland China and the world. Liu Chengjun broadcast the facts about the persecution at the risk of his own life. This benevolent feat left Jiang's scoundrel regime extremely scared. Jiang gave an urgent order to "kill [those responsible] without pardon" and 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners were then arrested in Changchun. Currently, eight of these practitioners have been tortured to death, and a large number of others have been jailed and cruelly persecuted. Successfully tapping into the cable TV channels to broadcast the facts about Falun Dafa was a magnificent act. It has effectively exposed the lies, eliminated the evil and manifested Dafa practitioners' compassion. History will forever remember Liu Chengjun and other practitioners' altruism and dedication to safeguarding the truth.
