Facts about the Persecution of Practitioner Chen Guokang and his Family by Unlawful Officials in Mituo Town, Chongqing City

(Clearwisdom.net) Chen Guokang, his wife Tang Dayu, and their daughter Chen Xiaoling are farmers in Mingjiang Village, Mituo Town (Dazu County, Chongqing City). All three are Falun Dafa practitioners. Some local, lawless officials beat them and extorted money from them many times. Mituo Town police once detained Tang Dayu's elderly mother, Long Taizhen, and her daughter, Chen Xiaoling, trying to extort money from the family. When his extortion attempt failed, the Secretary of the town's Political and Judiciary Committee sentenced Tang Dayu to one year of forced labor. The Mayor even took away the family's mattress while ransacking their home.

On April 8, 2004, policemen Li Fei, Zhou Ji and a few others from Dazu County Public Security Bureau abducted Tang Dayu and detained her in the county detention center for 40 days. Zhou Ji extorted 300 yuan [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] from Tang, and the detention center extorted 400 yuan from her. Tang was tortured so badly that when she was released, one could hardly recognize her. During Tang's detention, Ma Shichao from Mituo Town Police Station threatened her husband Chen Guokang and the whole family many times. Once, Ma led a group of persecutors and illegally broke into Chen's house. They took away a copy of Zhuan Falun and a set of audiotapes of Teacher's lectures. They also arrested Tang Dayu's mother and her daughter, detained them in the police station, and tried to extort 1,000 yuan from the family. Chen's family had to borrow from their friends and relatives and give the persecutors 500 Yuan before Long Taizhen and Chen Xiaoling could be released.

In November 2000, Tang Dayu went to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested and sent back to the local detention center. The Secretary of Mituo Town Political and Judiciary Committee Zheng Chuangui tried many times to extort 4,000 yuan from Chen Guokang. Chen refused. In December 2000, the police illegally sentenced Tang Dayu to 1 year of forced labor and sent her to Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing City. On December 13, 2000, three government officials, Xu Guangming, Mo Renzhi, and Chen Bencai deceived Chen Guokang to Mituo Town Police Station. The persecutors then sent Chen to a brainwashing center in Longgang Town, where Chen was detained for 153 days.

Also on December 13, 2000, Beimen Police Station in Dazu County abducted Chen Xiaoling and her daughter (only 2 years old) and forced them to attend a brainwashing session. They forced Chen Xiaoling to leave her house's door open. As a result, all the valuables in her home were stolen. Two other children of the family were going to kindergarten at the time. When they returned, there was no one to take care of them. On the next day, some neighbors took them to the brainwashing center so that they could join their families.

During his detention in the brainwashing session, Chen Guokang refused to give up his belief, even under brutal torture. One day in February 2001, Mituo Town Governor He Zehua led a group of persecutors to the brainwashing center. They threatened Chen and tried to force him to give up practicing Falun Gong. Chen calmly clarified the truth to them. He Zehua became angry when he saw that Chen would not give in: he abused and beat Chen ferociously, slapping his face and clamping down on his neck. During the torture, Chen's back was seriously injured, and the injury only started to recover after several days. After torturing Chen, He ordered someone to break into Chen's home and take away all the family's mattresses. A few days later, some persecutors in Miliang Town came to the brainwashing center to force Chen Xiaoling to give up her cultivation. When she refused and clarified the truth to them, they became angry and asked her to kneel down before them. When Chen refused, they forced her on her knees for over 1 hour and verbally abused her badly before leaving.

One day in mid-March, 2001, Zheng Chuangui and Xu Guangming went to visit Chen Guokang at the brainwashing center. They asked Chen whether he wanted to go home. Chen replied, "Yes, of course". The two perpetrators then said that unless Chen wrote materials to slander Falun Gong submitted 10,000 yuan, they would never release him.

On the day Chen was released, Zheng Chuangui asked him again to turn in the 10,000 yuan as "guarantee money." Chen Guokang firmed refused. At last, they forced Chen's brother to write a receipt for 5000 yuan (admitting that they owed Zheng 5000 yuan) and extorted 3060 yuan from Chen Guokang and his daughter before releasing him. Currently, the police often harass Chen's family by breaking into and ransacking their home. The ongoing harassment has seriously affected the life of the entire family.
