(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Ying Xiangyang. I am a 54-year-old farmer living in Liujia Village, Xinjia Street Office, Longkou City, Shandong Province. My wife and I suffered from many diseases before we attained Dafa and used to think that living was no better than dying. Early in 1999, my wife and I happily attained Dafa. All our diseases miraculously disappeared. But out of extreme jealousy, Jiang Zemin started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Since then I have suffered a lot of persecution and witnessed the persecution of other Dafa practitioners.

At noon on July 22, 1999, when I heard that the Central Radio station was going to broadcast anti-Falun Gong news, I decided to clarify the truth of Dafa to the relevant government departments. As soon as I left home, I was intercepted by Zhen Fushen from the local police station. He forced me to the township government office to listen to their "instructions," and then the township leaders attempted to force me to sign a guarantee to stop practicing Falun Gong. I did not listen to them and refused to cooperate with their unlawful request. Scores of Dafa practitioners were detained at the township government for several days. I was the last one to be released. On July 31, I was again seized by the police and taken to the police station. The former Political and Judicial Committee Secretary Song Anyuan and several others forcibly held my hand to take my thumbprint, and tortured me until midnight.

On August 5, the township government officials forced me to attend a meeting that was organized by the city to defame Falun Dafa and brainwash me into renouncing my belief. On August 31, 2003, township government officials and local police again detained me and forced me to loudly read defamatory articles against Falun Dafa and criticizing myself. To force me to read, Song Anyuan ripped my clothes apart. Song and the deputy township head also beat me. Later City Organization Department Head Li tried in vain to coerce me into renouncing my belief in Falun Dafa and give up practicing the Falun Dafa exercises. Qu Weiliang, the Party Secretary, also talked with me. Since they both failed in their efforts to get me to renounce my belief in Falun Dafa, they refused to allow me to return home. After repeated requests, I was released late that night. When I returned home I hid in a cornfield to avoid being sent to a meeting aimed at defaming Dafa.

On the afternoon on September 18, several people from the township government and the police station suddenly appeared at the factory where I worked and took me to the township government office, where they detained me in a small room. At the same time, they searched my home, arrested my wife, and took my Dafa books and audiotapes. The Longkou City Public Security Bureau head interrogated us and tried to coerce me to write an attack against Dafa. I refused and wrote an article to explain that Dafa is good instead. They detained me for about 5 days and released us only when my wife became very weak from the torture she received.

We told them that Dafa is very good using our own experiences, but the city and township officials did not listen to us. So my son, my wife and I went to Beijing to appeal on October 6, 1999. Unable to find the Appeals Office, by chance we found the People's Supreme Court and talked to them about our situation. Subsequently we were detained at a local police station and then transferred to the Longkou City Beijing Liaison Office. The next day, we were handcuffed and sent back to Longkou City to be detained. The township government required us to pay over 4000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] Since we didn't have that much cash, they deducted the money from my son's salary.

In the detention center, deputy head Xun directed a regular criminal inmate to beat me several times. Xun slapped my face and hit me with an electric baton. I was detained with fellow practitioner Li Guilan. Ma Jizong, the township head, asked us to report our thoughts daily, so we wrote about our firm belief in Dafa. Starting on November 7, we were allowed home for 6 days, then were detained for another two weeks at the detention center.

Since they kept harassing us and we had no way to seek justice, at the end of 1999, my son, my wife and I went to Beijing again to appeal. When we walked to Qianmen in Beijing, a policewoman tricked us at the Longkou City Beijing Liaison Office. We were sent back to the township government office the following day and detained in a 5 square-meter room with one table and three stools in it. In the dead of winter, we spent about eight cold, hungry days there. We were released only when they saw we were too weak, but on the following day we were arrested again and detained in a room at the Seniors' Center together with Dafa practitioners Li Guilan, Li Yujun and Han Xia. Dafa practitioners Wang Guiqing, her husband Han Fagong, and daughter Han Caixia were detained in another room. The room we were detained in was bare, with walls covered in frost. During that time Han Xia, San Fuying, Li Guilan, and my wife were sent to the detention center at different times. I was the last one released and had been detained for one and a half months. They were trying to prevent us from going to Beijing during the National People's Congress Meeting. In July 2000, my wife and I were detained for another half a month for a similar situation. There was a central meeting in Beijing.

On October 1, 2000, the township and police station officers broke into my home again. They searched and took our Dafa books, and took my wife to the police station. I stayed at my sister's home to avoid their persecution. Days later I heard that they were looking for me and ordered the village head to look for me in Beijing. Later they arrested my wife, Jiang Hua, and Han Xia. I stayed for about 20 days with my sister and then went back home. I arrived at home in the morning and was arrested in the afternoon. In the township government office, police head Yang Jianlong beat me and knocked out two of my front teeth and loosened the rest. After I had been detained for two days, they sent my wife to the detention center and said she would be sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. Li Guilan was secretly sent to a forced labor camp; even her family thought she had disappeared and only later learned what happened. After my wife was sent to a forced labor camp, the township government extorted over 800 Yuan from my son.

On January 18, 2001, Sun Ruiting, the new Political and Judicial Secretary and several police officers broke in to my home. They searched my home and dragged me into a police car. In the office, Sun Ruiting and Song An beat me, and then Xie Ruzhi beat me viciously that evening. Sun beat me every day. On the evening of January 21, I escaped and went to my sister's home. They found me at my sister's home the following day and I was returned to the office. They took off my trousers and whipped me with a belt. After Xie Ruzhi broke the belt, he kept hitting me with the half with the metal buckle. Dou Shijie used the same half of the belt to slap my face. They also poured water over my head. That evening when Xie Ruzhi kicked me, he broke some of my ribs on the right side. It was very difficult and painful to breathe. I was tortured by seven or eight people the entire night.

They handcuffed me to a bed. On the first day of the Chinese New Year, they tortured me again. Since I had not eaten anything for two days, Xie forcibly inserted a piece of meat into my mouth, then violently jabbed chopsticks into my mouth, loosening one of my teeth. Xie forced me to swallow the whole thing and a little bit of rice, and then beat me again. Sun Ruiting slammed my head against the wall and floor, and then forced me to sit on a chair. Xie Ruzhi put a red-hot hook in front of my leg to burn me; I grabbed it and threw it away. At that moment, Sun Ruiting pushed me to the floor and stepped on my face with one foot, and on my stomach with the other. With several people holding my hands and feet, Xie kicked me heavily in the head, face, eyes, and genitals. I fainted from the pain. They poured cold water on me to wake me up and dragged me to a bed, where Jiang Yanli forced me to sit straight. Seeing I was unable to support myself, they let me lie down. While torturing me, Xie Ruzhi said, "If we kill you, serves you right. Your family will have nowhere to sue. Jiang Zemin has said that killing Falun Gong practitioners is not a crime." Xie Ruzhi also cursed and insulted our Teacher, and ordered Jiang Hua, Han Xia, Wang Hongling to take off their shoes and stockings, and stand in the courtyard on the ice to suffer the cold.

Chi Bentao beat up all the Falun Gong practitioners who were put in detention. Chi rolled up phonebooks to beat us. Li Zulai, who is in his 60s, was beaten until he bled from both his nose and mouth. One evening, Chi cruelly beat practitioner Li Zulai, then tried to order Li Zulai to beat me. Li Zulai refused. So Chi beat Li, until he was bleeding from his nose and mouth. Then Chi tried to order me to beat my fellow practitioner, Li Zulai. I refused. So Chi ordered Xie Ruzhi to beat me, and Xie Ruzhi whipped me with his belt.

One afternoon, Yuan Youlin and Zhaoqiang started to torture me. Zhao Qiang was used by officials from the "610 office" and has beaten many Dafa practitioners. They beat me from the front office to the backyard, to the side of the building with a toilet, then back to the office in the front yard. Yuan Lin kicked my mouth, genitals, and upper abdominal area; Zhao Qiang liked to punch my face, chest and abdomen. Yuan Lin kicked me to the ground numerous times. When they were tired of beating me, they forced me to run or to do semi-squats. That particular time, they tortured me for five hours.

One evening, military director Wang Xianwen said to me, "This evening I'll let you write the 'reform letter,' do you believe me?" I said, "No, I will not listen to you even I have to die." He beat me for a long time. Seeing no effect, he beat me with stools and chairs.

When it was Dou Shijie's turn, he either beat me or punished me in other ways. He beat me many times, and handcuffed me to the outdoor steel fence to torture me in the freezing cold temperatures. He said to me, "Even if my father practiced Falun Gong, I'll skin him alive and let him suffer rather than let him die." Li Fuhuan and Ding Guangyuan also beat me. Li Fuhuan forced me to do semi-squats, or he would beat me. Sun Ruiting usually hit my face. Sometimes, he slapped me about the face three to four rounds a day, each round with scores of slaps. His hands once swelled up for several days from beating me.

I told them that the staged Tiananmen Immolation Incident was a show fabricated to frame and defame Falun Gong. Instead of listening to me, they pushed me to the stove. Xie Ruzhi said, "Let's burn him," but instead he burned himself. When they tried to push me into the flame, I fell to the side of the stove.

Over two months of torture did not change my firm belief in Falun Dafa and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." They also used lies and played tricks on me, and they used long-term detention, brainwashing and fabricated articles to mislead practitioners. I made mistakes under the pressure and lies, but through studying Dafa, I see through their lies more and more clearly. Now I have a clear mind and can walk a righteous path.

To avoid persecution, I left home several times. In the spring of 2002 when I went back home, they persecuted me again.

On September 9, 2002, after being reported by the village officers, I was sent to a "610 Office brainwashing session." One evening, Wang Jian and driver Xie beat and cursed me. When Wang Jian beat me enough, Xie followed. Xie struck the bottom part of my chest and the upper part of my abdomen very heavily. He broke my ribs, making it very difficult for me to breathe and I almost fainted. Afraid that I could die, Wang pressed my Renzhong acupuncture point [point beneath the nostrils] with his fingers. When he realized I could still breathe, he called a doctor to check on me. The doctor diagnosed that I had a broken rib. After the doctor left, they shouted at me and ordered me to stand up. Seeing my situation, they dragged me to a small room on the second floor, and handcuffed me from behind to the bedpost for a whole night.

During the past years, I was illegally arrested about 18 times; four detentions lasted a total of 58 days. Two brainwashing sessions lasted half a year. The brainwashing in the provincial forced labor camp lasted ten days. The township and street office detained me for about half a year.

Recently, several Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested in our city, they wanted to arrest me also. I was forced to leave home again.
