Changtu County Police in Liaoning Province Panic and Flee After Brutally Gang Beating a Female Practitioner
(Clearwisdom.net) Feng Bailin and Hou Wenge are the Jinjia Town assistant
police chiefs in Changtu County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province. On February 3,
2002, at around 9:00 p.m., they were driving around in a vehicle, hunting for
Falun Dafa practitioners who had distributed truth-clarifying materials. They
constantly pursue practitioners in Changtu County, all the way to Bajiazi
Village in Daxing Town. In the course one such chase, Bajiazi Village
practitioner Ms. Zhai Shuzhen tripped and fell, whereupon Feng Bailin, Hou Wenge,
and a few accomplices brutally beat Ms. Zhai about her head and body with steel
clubs and wooden bats. When Ms. Zhai suddenly passed out, they assumed that they
had beaten her to death. In a panic, they all piled into the vehicle and sped
away from the scene of the crime. Upon regaining consciousness, Ms. Zhai slowly and arduously crawled home.
When her family saw her, they realized that she had been severely beaten, and
was at the very brink of death. They rushed her to Changtu County First People's
Hospital, where x-rays revealed four fractured ribs on her left side that were
causing severe bleeding into the pleural cavity, and a collapsed lung. Ms Zhai
underwent surgery to remove the fluid from her chest cavity. She required
hospitalization for eleven days, which contributed to a bill for over 6,000 Yuan
in medical expenses [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban
worker in China]. Finally, she had to leave the hospital early because she
could not afford to remain there. Due to the severity of the beating, Zhai
Shuzhen still endures lingering symptoms of chronic dizziness and headaches that
are sometimes severe enough to cause her to lose consciousness. Her family is
distraught over her condition.
