A Middle School Student is Detained in Beijing for Clarifying the Truth

Middle school student Li Dan who lives in Nanzai Village, Pinggu District, Beijing, clarified the truth about Falun Gong to her classmates at school. Her classmates told their parents that Falun Gong is good and can make people healthy and strong. They also told their parents that Li Dan had recovered from several diseases after practicing Falun Gong. We don't know which parent reported this to the authorities, but, as a result, Li Dan was sent to the juvenile law school in Pinggu district where she was subjected to brainwashing for half a month.

During the detention period, authorities extorted 500 yuan from Li Dan's family. The authorities requested 1,000 yuan; however, because her family is impoverished, her relatives only gave them 500 yuan. The policemen also threatened Li Dan's baby sister and asked her who had taught Li Dan to practice Falun Gong. Because Li Dan's sister is so young, she told the officers that Dafa practitioner Huang Wenshu had taught Li Dan to practice Falun Gong. The policemen asked the sister to lead them to arrest Huang Wenshu, and Huang Wenshu subsequently was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. The policemen searched all records, tapes, books and Dafa materials that belonged to Li Dan and Huang Wenshu. When they searched Li Dan's house, they took away the telephone book, which disturbed the family. Some of their relatives' houses were also searched.
