United Kingdom: A Film about Falun Gong is Shown During the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

(Clearwisdom.net) The annual International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival was held from the 17th to the 20th of September 2004, at the biggest cinema in Glasgow, Scotland. Seventy films about human rights problems from different countries and nations participated in this festival. Among them, a film revealing the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China by Jiang's regime was also shown. It left a profound impression on the audience.

During the film festival, Falun Gong practitioners had an information stall outside the cinema where they displayed a poster about Falun Gong, distributed leaflets and collected petition signatures. Many people came to sign the petition after reading the poster and learning more about the suppression of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights in China. By doing so, they showed their support to Falun Gong practitioners.

The showing of the film should have started at 6pm on Saturday the 18th. But after the audience sat down, the staff found out that the cinema's DVD player did not work, so they went to change it. During the wait, two practitioners introduced Falun Gong and the truth about the persecution to the audience. Everyone listened very carefully and asked questions.

After they finished watching the film, many people asked for more information about Falun Gong. There were also some people who stayed behind and talked for a long time with the practitioners. A westerner said the film about Falun Gong that he watched today gave him the most profound impression and was really shocking.

A Chinese gentleman, who specifically came to watch the film about Falun Gong, said that the reason he made this special trip was that he really want to see this film which was made by those who have first-hand experience of what is happening in China. When he talked about his feelings after watching the films, he said, "It is very moving to see that so many overseas countries and human rights organizations care about the human rights problems in China. It was quite shocking as well." He hoped this persecution could end soon.
