After Eighteen Days of Torture in Forced Labor Camp, Wang Yuhong Can No Longer Care for Herself

(Clearwisdom.net) Having been illegally sentenced twice to a forced labor term, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Yuhong of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province is currently being detained in the 8^th Unit, 7th Division of the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp, Heilongjiang Province. She can no longer move her left arm after being tortured by lawless forced labor camp personnel for eighteen days. Her left collarbone has become higher and she can no longer take care for herself.

Ms. Wang Yuhong, a 30-year-old resident of Qianjin District, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. She benefited from the practice both mentally and physically. In October 1999, she exercised her rights and went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. On her way to Beijing she was abducted and taken back to Jiamusi City for detention. In the Jiamusi City Detention Center she was brutally persecuted by prison guards. On November 3, 1999, when the first group of seventeen Falun Gong practitioners was illegally sentenced to forced labor term, Wang Yuhong was illegally sentenced to a three-year forced labor term.

In the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp, Wang Yuhong and other Falun Gong practitioners steadfastly refused to denounce their belief. They were thus constantly tortured by prison guards and inmates and always forced to work overtime, doing extra heavy labor. On September 5, 2002, Wang Yuhong was released from the labor camp.

On December 19, 2002, Ms. Wang was at a friend's home when the police broke open the door and took her by force to the Qianjin District Police Station. She was tied to a chair from the back. Three policemen from the National Security Division viciously beat her several times. Ms. Wang's left leg was so brutally beaten by one policeman that she could not walk normally for over two months. On February 20, 2003, after being illegally detained for three months in the Jiamusi City Detention Center, Ms. Wang was illegally sentenced to another three-year forced labor term. The police sent her to the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp to continue persecuting her. Below is a partial account of the persecution Ms. Wang has suffered while serving the illegal forced labor term.

Every day after having their lunch, Falun Gong practitioners usually worked in a workroom. One day in late April 2002, however, prison guards sent Falun Gong practitioners back to their rooms to torture them with the "Big Backward Cuffing" (one hand from above one's shoulder and the other hand from below, with the two hands cuffed together behind the back), attempting to force them to write the "five Guarantee Statements." Prison Guard Sun Limin took Ms. Wang to a room in the east wing on the 2^nd floor. As soon as Ms. Wang walked near the corridor she could hear people crying out from almost every room.

Prison guard Li Xiujin was holding a small yellow handcuff. Wang Yuhong immediately understood and said, "You should not do this. This is not good for any one." Prison guard Sun Limin yelled, "We are done persuading you. Or you write it yourself!" Ms. Wang refused to write the Guarantee Statements. Prison guard Zhang Xiaodan tripped her, making her fall. It took the three female prison guards (Li Xiujin, Sun Limin and Zhang Xiaodan), a forced labor camp inmate, and a former practitioner who had been brainwashed, quite a long time to tie Ms. Hong to a metal bed, during which Sun Limin asked the two accomplices to "move her hands around;" the more they moved her hands the tighter the handcuff got, and the more pain Ms. Wang felt. After forty minutes they unlocked the handcuff to switch position, alternating the upper and lower hand, which caused Ms. Wang even more pain. In addition, they kept moving her hands around; Ms. Wang could not bear the pain; and felt that everything was turning black before her eyes.

Prison guard Yu Wenbin said, "Write it! Write it! Write it and I'll unlock the handcuff." But Ms. Wang refused to write. After about forty minutes, a prison guard opened the handcuff for her. Ms. Wang felt so much pain in her arms that she could hardly breathe; and her hands had become numb. An accomplice tried to force Ms. Wang's hand to sign her name; but she pulled her hand back, so the accomplice forged her name instead.

On February 12, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners were subject to severe prison rules. Practitioners were not allowed to drink water or buy food; every morning at around 6 a.m. they were forced to "sit on a small bench" (covered with enamel-insulated wire) until 8 p.m. Sometimes prison guards with personal issues against practitioners would extend the punishment to midnight. This torture requires a practitioner to sit still and maintain the same position, with both hands on the knees; practitioners are not allowed to move or close his/her eyes, otherwise the punishment will be extended. Closing the eyes once will result in an extra 10 minutes of torture. Practitioners were not allowed to use the restroom freely; They were limited to three times: 5 a.m., 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. Some practitioners underpants became soaked when they had their period, yet they were not allowed to change. More and more practitioners were made to sit on a small bench. They were also forced to watch and listen to VCD's and recordings containing programs slandering Falun Gong, usually played at a very high-volume. The Division leader He Qiang also filled the four walls with slogans that attacked Falun Gong's Teacher.

On the morning of February 20, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners tore down the slanderous slogans. Then prison guard Hong Wei used a rubber tube to violently whip Ms. Wang. Male prison guards from the Admonition Unit and all female prison guards from the 8^th Unit started torturing Falun Gong practitioners again with the "Big Backward Cuffing." Hong Wei ordered Ms. Wang to step out. Ms. Wang refused; so her clothes were torn apart. Male prison guard Wang Tiejun used 300,000-voltage electric batons to shock Ms. Wang, which made her pass out immediately. Soon after, prison guards carried her to the 1^st dormitory and tortured her with the "Big Backward Cuffing" and cuffed her to a bed for a long period of time. At this point Ms. Wang could no longer move her hands or feet. Hong Wei then shocked Ms. Hong three times with an electric baton.

Ms. Wang had been cuffed to a bed which caused so much pain in her arms that she sweated profusely, and her face was drenched in sweat. After a long while, prison guards again cuffed Ms. Wang and others backward to an iron bed in room 3; they did not unlock the handcuff to let practitioners eat until after 1 p.m. After lunch at around 2 p.m., prison guards again cuffed them backward to a metal bed; in the middle they changed position once. The inmates always moved practitioners' hands around, to cause the handcuffs to become tighter.. They didn't unlock the handcuff until 6 p.m. In the night practitioners were always handcuffed in the dark, cold warehouse, sometimes they were cuffed backward and sometimes they were cuffed forward. Day and night, they were repeatedly handcuffed. They were not allowed to wash up or sleep. During the day they sat on the cement floor and during the night they sat on the "small bench."

The temperature in the warehouse is about seven or eight degrees lower than that of the dormitory. Even prison guards who patrolled the corridor said it was too cold in the warehouse and they would leave after a short while. One Falun Gong practitioner gave Ms. Wang a blanket so that she could use it to cover her legs in the night, yet the prison guards would not allow it. One time, when prison guard Zhang Xiaodan saw Ms. Wang wearing gloves and covering her legs with a blanket, she said, "This is too cozy. Get rid of all of these. Whoever dares to give Wang Yuhong clothes to cover her legs will get her term extended."

Wang Yuhong's hands are swollen because they have been constantly handcuffed. She cannot move her arms. In the morning when she uses the restroom she needs someone to help her. One time, when Hong Wei saw someone holding Wang Yuhong's pants, he scolded that person. Ms. Wang was handcuffed for eighteen days because of this. Since then, when others saw Ms. Wang they all said that she had gotten older. She has a lot of gray hair. She has problems moving or using her left arm and her left collarbone has become higher. She can no longer care for herself and she needs help when she takes a bath. She has uneven heartbeat and her heart always aches. She has spasmodic stomach and intestine, and she also has kidney stones. In the morning her hands and feet are always numb. Ms. Wang has experienced severe mental and physical abuse.

Wang Yuhong is now being illegally detained in the 8^th Unit, 7^th Division in the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp, Heilongjiang Province. The other day Ms. Wang filed an appeal requesting the investigation of pertinent persecutors' crimes, for redressing the wrongs against Falun Gong and returning freedom to Falun Gong practitioners.
