Father Dies and Mother Imprisoned - An 11-year-old Girl in Shandong Province Suffers a Bitter Life All Alone (Photo)

Shang Liyun is an 11-year-old girl from Caiyuancun Village, Chengguan Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. She is a fifth grade student at the Qingdaolu Road Elementary School that belongs to the Chengguan Office of Pingdu City. Her father Shang Baolin died on October 10, 2002. His death was the result of the relentless persecution he suffered for practicing Falun Gong. Shang Liyun's mother, Zhang Zengyan, was abducted on October 17, 2004 while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong with a group of practitioners. Now Shang Liyun has become an orphan. Only her female cousin who is merely a few years older than Shang cooks meals for her now. Falun Gong practitioners also visit her regularly and bring some food for her.

When Shang Liyun was 8 years old, her mother was forced to leave home and lead a homeless existence to avoid further persecution. Shang Liyun had no one to depend on when her father died and she was completely devastated.

She is no longer the lively young girl she once was.

At about 3:30 a.m. on October 17, 2004, when Zhang Zengyan and another fellow practitioner were clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in front of the entrance to the brainwashing center, the center's personnel dashed out of the entrance and abducted the two practitioners.

Zhang Zengyan is presently detained in the brainwashing center, suffering from the inhumane persecution. Shang Liyun went to the brainwashing center many times, asking to see her mother, but she was refused by the "610 Office" personnel.

Zhang Zengyan has had a total of 26,200 Yuan extorted from her because she practices Falun Gong. She has no source of income and lives in hardship. Liu Xigui, the Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee of Chengguan Office, extorted 14,000 Yuan. Hou Yonghua, former chief of the local police station of Chengguan Office, extorted 12,000 Yuan. Yu Bin of Pingdu Police Department extorted 200 Yuan.
