(Clearwisdom.net) Thirty-eight-year old Dafa practitioner Ms. Luo Chunrong is from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province. She lives in an apartment on Zhanqian Street. In 2003, policemen from Dongji Police Station in Liaoyuan City illegally searched her home and arrested her. She endured inhuman torture for nine days and was then put into a forced labor camp for continued persecution.

Below, Luo Chunrong gives a brief account of the brutal torture.

In 2003, policemen from the Dongji Police Station illegally searched my home and abducted me to the police station. I asked them why they illegally arrested people. They told me that they are just the Party's tool used to suppress people. I said, "Aren't you called the 'People's Policemen?' You're supposed to crack down on bad people, not on people who practice Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance." The policeman answered, "We're just doing our job. We arrest good people like you because we are told to. We don't need to think what's right and what's wrong."

At the station, policemen Li Bin and Jiang Yang were in charge of my interrogation. Since they didn't find anything worthwhile when they searched my home, they didn't have any excuse to persecute me. They didn't ask me any questions. They just slapped me in the face and stomped on my toes. I didn't have any shoes on and my hands were cuffed behind my back. The policemen yanked on the handcuffs to cause me more pain. After beating me for a while, they took me to a bigger room downstairs. They locked the door, and the room became a torture chamber. I was handcuffed and shackled and forced to stand on the cement floor barefoot. They repeatedly hit me to the ground, pulled me up by my hair and hit me again. They got tired, so they started to kick me and slap the bottoms of my feet with a metal bar. Then they forced me to kneel by kicking me and stomping on me. The beating continued until 2 o'clock in the morning. They were exhausted. They asked several civilian security guards to watch me. They forced me to raise my arms and hold them up straight. I couldn't stand up or squat down. I wasn't even allowed to close my eyes.

The next day I saw that the bottoms of my feet had turned dark purple. A department head came over and said, "If you can last two days, we'll release you." Another person tried to persuade me, "Just tell them the names of the practitioners you're in contact with. You won't be able to endure the torture."

I smiled. I knew very clearly I hadn't violated any laws. I'm walking on the most righteous path. Violence will never sway me.

In the afternoon, they started to torture me again. They put a plastic bag over my head and held the opening tight with their hands so no air could flow in or out. This way, whenever I inhaled, the bag would stick to my nose and block my nostrils, making it impossible for me to breathe. They used this method to almost suffocate me several times, trying to force a confession from me. They then beat me up again. That night they brought a bottle of ice water and poured it over my face and my body.

On the third day, they used new methods of torture. They repeatedly forced my head down into a bucket filled with water. Each time they held my head in the water a little longer. Then they poured concentrated vinegar into my nose and stuffed my mouth, so that, when I breathed in, the irritating, pungent smell of the vinegar made my nose run and my eyes tear. For two days, yellow fluid ran out of my nose. Since they had handcuffed both my hands to a metal pipe, I couldn't even wipe my nose.

On the fourth day, I wasn't allowed to eat, drink, use the restroom, or sleep. I felt like my eyes were sinking into their sockets. I was covered with mud and water. I was ordered to squat down. A person came in and started shooting at me with a toy gun. The bullets were hard red plastic balls. I was the target. It hurt a great deal when the red plastic balls hit me. I counted over 20 hits.

That afternoon while I was squatting, policemen Jiang Yang and Li Bin, trampled me to the ground, one on the left, the other one on the right, ruthlessly stomping on my back. They pulled me up by my hair and kicked me again. They also stepped on my handcuffs. The handcuffs cut into my wrists, which started to bleed. Their savage beating lasted a long time.

On the fifth day, my feet were so swollen that I had difficulty walking. I didn't have any shoes on and couldn't stand anymore. They finally gave me a chair so I could sit down. Policeman Jiang Yang sat in front of me. He stepped on my ankle and rubbed his feet back and forth until my ankle started to bleed. It hurt so much that it felt like my skin was being peeled off. He used incense to burn my legs in over 20 places. Big blisters appeared. He poured the gas from a cigarette lighter into a water bottle, lit it and pressed the opening of the bottle against my arms. The heat from the bottle left blisters on my arms. He shouted, "Your death will be nothing. We have orders from above."

The sixth day, the city police department sent over a section head, Lan Yuqin (female), and policeman Dai Jilu to interrogate me. They told me that the head of the police department said that they would not let me go unless I gave up practicing Falun Gong. Then they started the physical punishment. I was forced to stand in different postures. I told myself, "Don't collapse, don't give in." I held out. Seeing that they failed to sway me, they began to use the torture method "Tying the Ropes" (1) on me. I endured this one, too. Dai Jilu ferociously pulled my hair and spun me around violently. Lan Yuqin let loose a torrent of abuse and then left.

On the seventh day, they sent someone to feel my pulse and look at my eyelids. They then started to force-feed me. Seven men held me down on the ground to force-feed me. Little food went in. Those men were tired and out of breath.

On the eighth day, they didn't beat me. They were afraid I might die there. Several civilian security guards tried persuading me to give in. They told me that they couldn't bear to see the torture any more. A young man said that he told his mother how I was tortured and that his mother cried. I told him how widespread Falun Dafa is in foreign countries. He nodded.

On the ninth day, they created my personal record. Around 6:00 p.m., I was taken to the Lianyuan City Detention Center. I was forced to sit on the "Tiger Bench" (2) for 11 days! I was not allowed to eat, drink or use the restroom. After this, I lost the ability to walk. My arms wouldn't hang normally. I couldn't sit on my swollen buttocks. Several days later, I was taken out for my trial.

The police blindfolded me. I don't know where they took me. It was a big dark room. Seeing my situation, any person with a little bit of humanity left in them would not beat me again. But the police forced me to sit on the "Tiger Bench" and then hung me up to beat me for six days. They then sent me back to the detention center, where I stayed for four months. They took me to the forced labor camp on October 14. The reason for sentencing me to forced labor was that my three-year forced labor sentence in 2001 didn't follow proper legal procedures and was therefore invalid, so they needed to sentence me again. This is how the lawless people of Jiang's regime ignored the law and carried out Jiang's policy of "defame their reputation, bankrupt them economically, and destroy them physically."

Note:

(1) "Tying the Ropes" - The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police use all the force they can muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, making it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. Sometimes the rope has been tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.

(2) "Tiger Bench:" Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately
20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over and force the practitioners to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.
