The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners at the Sichuan Vocational Institute of Astronautics

(Clearwisdom.net) Several staff members at the Sichuan Vocational Institute of Astronautics, formerly known as the Sichuan Astronautics Industry School, follow the Jiang faction to persecute Dafa practitioners at the institute. The head of the Political Security Division, Zhang Chengyan, is one of them.

Zhang Chengyan publicly declared, "We don't need any government documents to deal with Falun Gong practitioners. We just need higher orders [for example, the notorious Jiang directive to "defame their reputations, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically".] He even shouted out, "I don't believe in retribution. Even if I only have one day to live, I'll fight against Falun Gong until the end! If I want to have you arrested, you'll be arrested. I just need to write the police a note or give them a call." He also went on to say, "There is no official document from the government or the '610 Office' to withhold your salaries. This was decided by the school officials to restrain you. I drafted a memo, and it was approved by the school officials. I decide your salary. On issues concerning you, even if the Principal and the Party Committee Secretary approve something, it won't pass without my approval."

Several Dafa practitioners who are teachers and staff members at the institute were persecuted for practicing Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhao Benyong was a capable young teacher. He refused to renounce his belief in Dafa and because of that was under tremendous stress and intimidation. He was also stripped of his teaching position by then Principal Chen Zhonghui, and demoted to the job of gatekeeper. He was put on duty for 24 hours, and monitored by the director of the Political Security Division, Ma Chun.

Zhao Benyong was eventually fired by the school, and could not go home due to the persecution. His 70-year-old mother and 8-year-old daughter are at home alone, without him to take care of them. His wife was a teacher at the Dazhou Elementary School. She was an outstanding teacher and well known at the school, but was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. In order to make a living, Mr. Zhao went to a different city to find work. Still, Ma Chun and others from his former job continued to spy on and follow him in Chengdu City where he was working. Currently, the whereabouts of Zhao Benyong are unknown.

Ms. Shi Lanfang is retired and is close to 70 years old. In the past, she could hardly read or write. Since she practiced Falun Gong, all her former illnesses disappeared and she is full of life again. She can now read all the Dafa books, articles and other materials. Shi Lanfang is a very good person. Over the past several years, Ms. Shi has been arrested and detained in the police station, detention center and brainwashing classes because of her firm belief in Falun Gong. Even at her age, Ms. Shi was severely beaten!

In 2003, several policemen hit Ms. Shi so hard that her head and hands turned black and blue and the bones in both of her wrists were broken. After she was released from the detention center, she fully recovered from her injuries by practicing Falun Gong. In the beginning of July 2004, the head of the Political Security Division, Zhang Chengyan, instigated the school guards to take her to the Longquan Brainwashing Class. At that time, Shi Lanfang was doing housework, so the guards used force to take her out of her home. While trying to fend off the guards, she lost her shoes and socks. Ms. Shi maintained her righteous thoughts under the brutal torture, and the persecutors had to release her.

Mr. Liang Kunhua and his wife are both in their 60's. Their home was illegally searched, and they were detained in the detention center. Their salaries were also withheld from them. Their original salaries were close to 2,600 yuan (1) per month, but now they are only given 250 yuan per person, which is not enough to cover their basic living expenses. Two years ago, even the 250 yuan was not guaranteed, since fees like utilities (water and electricity), cable TV, sanitary and other services were deducted from their check by the authorities. The couple was deprived of all benefits. In order to avoid further persecution, they had to become homeless. Their children were deceived by the government's lies and kept away from them. This made it even more difficult for the couple. The persecution has caused great pain to them, both economically and spiritually.
