Ms. Zhou Yafang, A Practitioner from Qidong County, Hunan Province Dies From Torture-Related Injuries Sustained in Police Custody

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhou Yafang resided at Huangtupu Town, Qidong County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province. She was only thirty years old when she died. Simply for practicing Falun Gong, Zhou Yafang was illegally detained for over two years by the Qidong County Public Security Bureau.

Ms. Zhou was beaten by the labor camp guards. As a result of the torture, she lost consciousness. She was beaten until her face was shapeless and the torture eventually reduced her to an emaciated shell. She was on the verge of dying.

When she was released, she could hardly take care of herself, rendered extremely feeble physically. Twice her family sent her to the hospital emergency room. The first time, she had to spend over ten thousand yuan before she could finally be discharged from the hospital. However, her health situation was still not improved. Her family again sent her to the emergency room. Nonetheless, since she had been tortured so severely in detention, she died in her home at the end of September 2004. The people directly responsible are being investigated.

The key people responsible for persecuting the practitioners at Qidong County include:

He Zhengrong, the Section Chief of the Political and Security Section of Qidong Public Security Bureau. He is the head who persecutes Falun Gong in Qidong City. Almost all the practitioners from Qidong City who have been arrested (over 200 instances) have been tortured by him. He is notorious for his cruelty, subjecting practitioners to tortures such as "beating up the practitioners' whole body", "Bei Baojian (wearing a sword)", "Diao Banbianzhu (hanging one side of the body like a pig)", "Sitting on a Tiger Bench", "Needle piercing ten fingers" "Violent force-feeding with spicy soup" etc.

Li Wei, Chen Huanzhu, and Wang Ximing, policemen from the Political and Security Section of Qidong Public Security Bureau. They work under He Zhengrong's leadership, following him closely in persecuting Falun Gong.

Zhou Youzhong, the Deputy Director of Qidong Detention Center, and is He Zhengrong's father-in-law. He is very active in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, using all kinds of wooden clubs and bamboo whips to beat practitioners

Li Yalin, Director of the Qidong Public Security Bureau.

Zhou Daosheng, a prison guard of the Qidong County Detention Center, who viciously beats practitioners with a weapon full of urine and feces.
