Practitioners Persecuted at Hainan Youth Detention Center

(Clearwisdom.net) Currently, the Youth Detention Center in the Fengxiang Jail in Hainan Province is detaining more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners. On October 8, 2004, Jiang Xiaojun and other personnel from the 610 Office in the Youth Detention Center set up another brainwashing session in a seemingly never-ending series for the 'practitioners whom they have managed to "reform." They locked up practitioners who refused to give up Falun Dafa in rooms where they can't even see sunshine, causing them tremendous physical and mental suffering. Some of these practitioners have become ill from the mistreatment, but have' not been allowed to see a doctor.

Since 2002, the majority of male Falun Gong practitioners from the area who were arrested and sentenced have been collectively detained at the Youth Detention Center. Some of the practitioners who have been held at and released from the Youth Detention Center are: Jiang Shilong, Chen Yuan, Ling Guomin, Quan Huicheng, Zhao Yan, Guo Honghui, Chen Jingbiao, and others. Zhong Xingguang was in charge of persecuting practitioners in the detention center. He set up the so-called "Falun Gong Reform Office" to persecute practitioners. Key members include Formal Education Division Manager Mai Yourong, Associate Manager Li Zhong, Police Officers Zhang Jin and Wang Kewen, and others. They select practitioners who are, as they say, "actively receiving reeducation," and constantly harass and monitor them. They routinely deprive practitioners of sleep, often allowing them to sleep for only one or two hours, until they succumb to coercion, and are in the words of the persecutors, "reformed."

As for the steadfast practitioners who refuse to be "reformed," they are detained in rooms for long periods of time and continuously forced to watch videos that slander Falun Dafa.

At the end of 2002, at the No. 4 Jail District, in order to "reform" Lin Xiong, a former employee of Dingan 'Tax Bureau in Hainan Province, policeman Zhang Jin threw him in a small cell. He was' not allowed to use the restroom, but was instead forced to endure the odor of a portable toilet in his room. In order hide their evil deeds, they covered the windows with newspaper, blocking out all light, and they 'did not allow him any contact with other practitioners. After he had been detained in this manner for some time, they began depriving him of sleep, allowing him only one or two hours of sleep each day for 8 consecutive days. He was extremely exhausted, his heart and liver began to rapidly deteriorate. Finally, under duress, he wrote the so-called "Guarantee Statements" they demanded of him. Currently, he is still detained at the Youth Detention Center.

In June 2003, except for Li Jingan and Xue Buju, the practitioners were forced to attend a "brainwashing session", and subjected to inhuman suffering. They were unable to endure the evil persecution, and were forced to write so-called "Guarantee Statements". In August 2003, both Xue Buji and Li Jingan faced increasingly dangerous states of health; their blood pressure had reached over 200 mm Hg. The police officers disallowed those who refused to be "Reformed" visits from their families and ignored the practitioners' requests for medical attention. They persisted in keeping them in their rooms without sunshine, and they were never allowed out. As a result, the Falun Gong practitioners' health conditions continued to deteriorate. It was' not until February 2004 that they sent Li Jingan to the hospital for treatment, and his family was required to pay for his medical expenses, which cost more than 10,000 yuan. They have yet to allow Xue Buju to go to the hospital for treatment, and he is still detained in his tiny room without light. He is closely monitored by his cellmates, even when he uses the washroom.

Currently the Director of Fengxiang Jail is Gao Zhenxia, the former Head of the Forced Labor Bureau. During her tenure, she violently persecuted practitioners in both the Men's and the Women's Forced Labor Camps in Hainan Province. In February 2004, she was transferred to Fengxiang Jail. She has vowed that if the practitioners refuse to participate in hard labor, they will be handcuffed and beaten in order to make them participate.

In June 2004, practitioner Wang Changfei 'failed to participate in hard labor, and the policemen ordered his cellmates to carry him to the factory.

In July 2004, the policemen of District No. 3 ordered inmates to tie up practitioner Gou Xuejun. Because of the righteous thoughts of the practitioners, however, the inmates gave up on their attempt to comply with the policemen's instructions.

Currently in the Youth Detention Center, every practitioner who is not "reformed" is placed in isolation. Criminal inmates collaborate with the guards and monitor the practitioners around the clock. Now Xue Buju, Gou Xuejun (whose ribs were broken during the beatings he endured when he was in the forced labor camp), Li Jingan (who was the Associate Divisional Manager of the Department of Bailiffs for the Sanya City Court), Wu Binru and Wang Changfei (who was formerly the Divisional Manager of the Correctional Officer's Division in Sanya City) are suffering severe persecution. Other practitioners detained for long periods at the Youth Forced Labor Camp inlcude: Chen Guichuan, Song Yuesheng, Lin Xiong, Feng Guangzhu, Zhuang Huiping, Liu Xun, Liao Liming, Han Shaoyong, Hong Guanglin, Lin Jixiong, Li Changmao, Wang Qiang, He Junpan, Zhang Hongyan and others.

On October 8, 2004, Jiang Xiaojun and other members of the 610 Office held yet another "brainwashing session" for the practitioners who were said to have been "reformed' with the intent to solidify their results.

Nowadays, practitioners in the Youth Detention Center are in very difficult situation. Those who are "reformed" are forced to attend intensive "labor reform".

As for the prisoners who participate in persecuting practitioners, they receive high scores compared with other prisoners, and some of them have been rewarded with reductions of their sentences.

The information revealed in this article is merely the tip of the iceberg; more information is to follow after further investigation.

The following are the main people in charge of persecuting practitioners at the Youth Detention Center:

Zhong Xingguang, Former Chief Jailer at the Fengxiang Jail, during his tenure, he has persecuted practitioners at the Youth Detention Center without restraint. The means he used were the cruelest and most inhuman. In February 2004, he was transferred to Meilan Jail as an acting member of the Political Committee. In June he was investigated on charges of corruption, and in September he was arrested.

Gao Zhenxia, Chief Jailer of the Fengxiang Jail; during her tenure, she violently persecuted practitioners who were incarcerated at both the Men's and the Women's Forced Labor Camps in Hainan Province. The methods she employed were vicious and inhuman. In February, she took charge of the Fenxiang Jail, were she continues to persecute practitioners.

No.1 Jail District:

Fu Shixiong, former Head Jailer at the No.1 Jail District, persecuted practitioners in his charge without constraint. His methods were barbaric. He has since been transferred to the labor camp hospital, and employed as an assistant teacher. He continues to carry out his criminal acts against practitioners.

Chen Yangyu continues to persecute practitioners.

Liu Huanqiang, in charge of the No. 5 Jail District, continues to persecute practitioners.

Zhang Jin, the former head of the "reform office", viciously persecuted and tortured practitioners. He was able to travel widely and is well known for his zeal in persecuting practitioners. In 2002, the Hainan Provincial 610 Office awarded 300,000 yuan to the Youth Detention Center for their efforts to reform Falun Gong practitioners. Of that reward, Zhang Jin received more than 10,000 yuan for the vicious part he played. He is still carrying out these criminal acts.

Police officer Li Zhong, who persecutes practitioners at the "reform office," has also employed the most evil and sadistic torture methods. For his efforts in persecuting practitioners, he was awarded more than 10,000 yuan, and he continues to participate in the persecution.

Mai Yourong, formerly the Section Head of the Education Division, viciously persecutes practitioners, and has been transferred to the Women's Jail to be an instructor.

These criminal policemen must be brought to justice, and this persecution must be abolished.
