Police Officers at Hanting Detention Center in Weifang City, Shandong Province Torture Practitioners with the "Cross"

(Clearwisdom.net) Most of the Falun Dafa practitioners detained in the Hanting Detention Center are young women. Most of the police officers there are men ages 20 to 30. When they torture female practitioners, usually no policewoman is present. Guo Guangsen, the head of the detention center, together with police officers Li Yong, Chen Jiayong, and others, have committed many crimes in the persecution of practitioners.

The police at the Hanting Detention Center invented a torture device called the "cross." It consists of three wooden boards, each about 20 centimeters wide, which are nailed together, but not on the same plane. Practitioners are forced to lie on it while their hands and feet are handcuffed to the boards. If the practitioners move, the uneven and sharp surfaces of the cross cut into their flesh. They quickly become numb and often faint. Normally, the cross is leveled on the floor. While eating or during bathroom time, it is set upright.

Ms. Zhang Lanfen is an elderly lady, but even she was not spared from being tortured with "the cross." Ms. Guo Hua was chained to a "death bed" for one month and was released only after her life was in danger. Ms. Wang Li was restrained on "the cross" for eight days and nights, which caused her joints to become painful and swollen for over six months. Ms. Zhang Yujuan endured "the cross" for five days and nights. She was unable to move while mosquitoes bit her, and she was covered with swollen lumps. Police officer Li Yong slapped practitioners' faces with a rolled-up book, harassed them with nasty gestures, and said a lot of dirty words.

In March 2003, police officer Li Yong frequently handcuffed Ms. Yang Mingzheng from a steel door so that only one of Yang's toes could touch the ground. Once, Ms. Yang's hands and wrists turned a dark purple and were extremely painful. Police officer Yang Yong shackled Ms. Yang Mingzhen's hands and feet together so that she could not straighten up her back for 17 days, 24 hours a day.

In July 2000 at the detention center, police officers Li Yong and Chen Jiayong restrained three practitioners, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Yuan Qingxia, and Ms. Zhang Yujuan, together with a big shackle so that they could not straighten their backs and had to remain bent over all the time. Ms. Yuan, who was in the middle, was fully constrained. She had to rely on Ms. Zhang Lanfen's help for any activity. The officers told Ms. Zhang Lanfen, "Since you are the oldest, we'll let you serve the three of them!"

The three women's hands and feet all swelled up, but the police officers still pushed them out of their beds, and then stomped on them and kicked them. After the big shackle was removed, they clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to the officers, but police officers Li Yong, Chen Jiayong, Zhao Hanming, and Cao tortured them brutally. After the beating, the officers shackled them to a steel pipe about two meters high, so that they were forced to raise their arms, and they would not allow them to use bathroom for over ten hours. The three practitioners were shackled this way for 24 days. Mosquitoes bit them all over, leaving innumerable lumps all over them.

Police officer Li Yong shocked the female practitioners' inner thighs with electric batons while saying profane words. When practitioners warned him to stop, he insulted them even more rudely.

One morning, as the practitioners were doing the Falun Dafa exercises, the group leader and some criminal detainees rushed into the women's cell and beat them savagely. They pulled their hair, and the group leader slapped the practitioners' faces with a slipper. When they were tired of beating the practitioners, they handcuffed them to the two-meter high radiator pipes, leaving only their toes touching the ground. Most practitioners quickly fainted. After they were released, they were chained to either the "Death Bed" or "the cross."

Guo Guangsen, the head of the detention center, and Yu Jianzheng, the brigade leader, invented and advocated the above-mentioned tortures the "big shackles," "the cross," and the "Death Bed." Guo also shared his experience with other detention centers.
