The Family Members of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Dehui, Jilin Province Collectively Go to Beijing to Appeal

(Clearwisdom.net) In the fall of 2003, thirteen Falun Dafa practitioners in Dehui City, Jilin Province had their prison terms extended. Their family members jointly went to Beijing to appeal. This was the first occurrence in China of non-practitioners collectively going to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa practitioners.

Thirteen Falun Dafa practitioners in Dehui were imprisoned. Not long ago, the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice on television, announcing that extended imprisonment was illegal. The local Dafa practitioners realized that this was a good opportunity to use the law to immediately release these Dafa practitioners who were imprisoned. They found the Dafa practitioners' family members and explained the situation to them. At first, some family members were afraid of being implicated and did not dare to promote justice for their family members. The practitioners patiently clarified the truth about Dafa to them and told them that their family members were imprisoned illegally, and that it was the legal system that was at fault, not their family members. After their family members understood, they began to appeal collectively. They went to the related municipal and provincial departments. After they did not obtain a solution at those places, they reached an agreement to go to Beijing together to appeal for help from the Ministry of Public Security.

When the Dafa practitioners' family members went to the Ministry of Public Security in Beijing and appealed for their family members in prison and requested their release, the Ministry of Public Security assembled many police vehicles and ordered many police to drive away the appealing family members. A lot of police in the square dragged the family members away and also tried to deceive them by saying, "Come with us and we will solve your problems when you return." The family members understood that this was a lie, and absolutely refused. One of them, an elderly gentleman, told the police dragging him: "Let go of me immediately! Today, we are not going anywhere. Solve the problem here at the Ministry of Public Security, because the announcement was issued by the Ministry of Public Security." At that time, there were many people congregated at the front door of the Ministry of Public Security. When the police faced this scene, they sent a person to ask for instructions from the leader of the Ministry of Public Security. Later on, concerned personnel in the Ministry of Public Security gave an answer to these people and issued instructions to the Provincial Public Security Department and the Dehui Municipal Public Security Bureau to immediately solve the problem of the thirteen Dafa practitioners having had their prison terms unreasonably extended.

After the family members returned to Jilin Province, the Jilin Province Public Security Department delivered the document to the Dehui Municipal Public Security Bureau. The local public security and other related departments tried to avoid taking responsibility, and they refused to carry out the instructions stated in the document. The family members were extremely indignant. Therefore, some several dozen people went to the Municipal Public Security Bureau directly.

The Municipal Public Security Bureau stationed four police officers in front of the gate to defend the front door, not allowing Dafa practitioners and the family members to enter. However, there were still several Dafa practitioners and some family members who made it into the building. They found the chief of the public security bureau to discuss the issue with him. Some people questioned the chief: "Do you say Falun Gong is good or not good?" The chief of the public security bureau said without thinking, "Good!" After that, he changed the statement immediately and said: "No, no, no. This is not what I meant to say." The Falun Dafa practitioners and their family members then asked him: "The Ministry of Public Security announced on television that extending prison terms is illegal. How do you explain this?" The chief blurted out, "Do your still believe what the CCTV says? It's all lies." The family members then asked him: "The Tiananmen Square self-immolation is also false?" The chief said offhandedly, "That is for sure." But he changed the statement immediately: "No, no, I did not say anything." The words of justice of the Dafa practitioners and the family members rendered the officials speechless.

Some officials in Dehui City prepared to secretly bring these thirteen Dafa practitioners to trial. However, the news spread like wildfire. They originally planned to have the trial at 9 a.m., but they secretly changed the trial time to 7 a.m. After the local Dafa practitioners heard about this situation, they hung a number of small loudspeakers on the power poles along the road from the detention center to the courthouse the night before, and then went to the spot with Dafa practitioners' family members early the next day. When the police vehicles in which the Dafa practitioners were sent under escort were driven to the courthouse, the sound of "Falun Dafa is Good" resounded through the crowd. The police hurried to get out of the vehicles and drove the crowd away, but the voice of justice continued. The police were at a loss. At the intersection, the speaker resounded: "World Falun Dafa Radio Station broadcasts to you ..." The police attempted to take down the small loudspeakers from the trees and the power poles. However, they were too high up and they had to ask the fire department for help. Some Dafa practitioners took photographs of this performance by the police. Later on, they were found by the police and two practitioners were arrested. Dafa practitioner Sun Dawei managed to escape after he was arrested.

The Falun Dafa practitioners' family members witnessed the scene of how Dafa practitioners braved such danger for the sake of justice. They thought it was amazing that Mr. Sun Dawei was able to get away under the police's watch. The people witnessed in person Dafa practitioners' great compassion, as well as the behavior of the government officials and the underhanded methods employed by the police in this contest between good and evil. Many Dafa practitioners' family members were amazed by the righteous strength of Dafa practitioners, and they too started to practice cultivation.
