Washington State: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold the Second "Legislative Day" (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net, February 23, 2004) Last year, practitioners widely explained the facts of Falun Gong to the state government officials last year. On February 21, this year, Falun Gong practitioners in Washington State held the second "Legislative Day" at the State Capitol to further clarify the facts to the state government officials. "Peaceful journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition was also held at the same time.

Before the event, practitioners made careful preparations. Each group of practitioners who had appointments with government officials were equipped with a notebook computer on which a set of truth-clarifying photos and a video program entitled, "Persecution of Falun Gong -- A Worldwide Campaign by China" were loaded. According to how much the officials had known about Falun Dafa, practitioners either displayed those truth-clarifying photos to them or directly talked with them about the importance of the proposed House Resolution 304 and showed them the video program. The photos included those illustrating the worldwide spread of Falun Dafa and those recording Washington state practitioners' participations of local communities' activities. When talking about the House Resolution 304, the video practitioners showed related how the U.S. and Canadian governments encountered diplomatic threats from the Chinese government regarding Falun Gong issue. After watching the video, the officials changed their attitude and could understand the importance of Resolution 304. Some immediately expressed that they would urge Congress members to sign this resolution.

Practitioners also brought a letter drafted by some state government officials to the Governor, urging him to speak out about the persecution of Falun Gong and not to be influenced by the Chinese government through trade deals.

For offices that practitioners did not have appointments with, they also delivered truth-clarifying materials. In addition, 154 officials' offices received paper lotus flowers that practitioners personally made. The lotus flowers often made the atmosphere friendlier. Some staff also put up in their offices the "Falun Dafa is good" calendar that practitioners presented to them.

The one-day "Peaceful Journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition also attracted many officials. While enjoying the Chinese style refreshments, people asked practitioners many questions. After watching the photo exhibition, a lady was so moved that she wanted to donate some money. Practitioners expressed their gratitude to her and explained that Falun Gong would not accept any donations.
