Around the time of Chinese New Year in 2004, many Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials were put at places like the City Hall Building, the Department Store Building, the Railway Station, the Residential Buildings of the Financial Bureau, the Police Department, and the Environment Protection Bureau. Especially on Chinese New Year' Day, the flyers about the "Global Trial of Jiang Zemin" could be found everywhere and became a focus of conversation. Meanwhile, the police were in an extremely panicked state. On the third day of the New Year, they conducted a door-to-door search in some areas, focusing on the visitors and non-residents.

* "610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.

Practitioner Xu Hongbo went out to distribute truth-clarifying materials one day at the beginning of 2003 and went missing. We have had no information about him ever since. Xu lived in the precinct of Mengjiatun Police Station in Changchun. When Xu's family inquired to the police about 'his whereabouts, they were told by the head of the police station that Mr. Xu was detained at the No.3 Detention Center. However, 'his family hasn't found any information about him there and his situation is unknown.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Haiyan of Yangshuwanzi Town of Jianchang County in Huludao City was taken away from her home by the police on the evening of July 18, 2001. She was sent to the notoriously brutal Masanjia Forced Labor Camp the next day. At that time, her youngest child at home was not even one year old and was still nursing. However, Wang was sentenced to three years in the labor camp and is still in the detention center now.

On the evening of April 25, 2001, Liu Weijun and Wang Junsheng gathered together more than ten policemen to break into Practitioner Zhao Haizhen's home and take her to the Jianchang County Detention Center. Her two children were left at home. The younger one is barely one year old and still needs to be nursed. Their mother has been sentenced to three years at the Masanjia Labor Camp.

Liu Weizhong and Wang Junsheng also participated in searching the homes of other practitioners and taking them by force to the brainwashing centers.

At 11 o'clock on February 8, 2004 (January 17^th on the Chinese lunar calendar), a police van and a car from Huantai City Police Department in Shandong Province arrived at Rong Xiuhua's home in Gudao Residential Compound of Shengli Oil Field in Dongying City, Shandong Province. There were altogether 7 policemen. They illegally searched her home and took the portrait of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, her Falun Dafa books, truth-clarifying materials, and even her meditation rug. During the search, they broke down two doors. That night, two policemen stayed to keep Rong under surveillance until 10 a.m. On the next day Rong was taken to the Security Office in the Residential Compound. At 3 o'clock on Feb. 10, she was sent to Huantai and detained there.

Practitioner Li Suping of Xitianzhuang Village in Huanghuadian Town of Quqing District in Tianjin City went to visit her family in Hanzhong City, Shanxi Province. At noon on January 21, 2004 (one day before the Chinese New Year) she was arrested by the police of Nanzheng County in Hanzhong City. She is now being detained in Nanzheng County Detention Center in Hanzhong City, Shanxi Province.

Ms. Liu Renxiu, who is 40 years old, lives in Xianfeng Production Team (a village section) of Huaxi Town of Banan District. In August of 2000, she was put into a labor camp for one year for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people. She kept on validating Dafa after she was released in August of 2001. In June of 2003, she was again arrested from her home and detained in Banan District Detention Center. Her home was searched. In December of 2003, she was tried in a secret trial with no public observers permitted.

During the past few years, the practitioners in Xiushan County have been severely persecuted by perpetrators in Xiushan County. Three of them have been sentenced to prison terms, three to labor camps, and many have been detained several times. Some are injured due to beatings. The following is a list of some of the practitioners being persecuted.

Yang Fengxi, who is 38 years old, and from Pingkai Town of Xiushan County, was sentenced to 4 years in prison in 2001 for distributing truth clarifying flyers.

Liu Changxian, who is 63 years old, and from Pingkai Town of Xiushan County, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2001 for distributing truth clarifying flyers. (Terms served outside the prison.)

Deng Yunyue, Li faying, and Zhang Lirong were sharing their experiences together on May 21, 2001 when they were arrested by the police of Xiushan County. They were sentenced to two years in a labor camp.

I once heard a story: A non-practitioner had received a phone call from an overseas practitioner. He hung up the phone right away when he heard it was from overseas, fearing that he might have to pay a lot of money for the phone bill. It is free for receiving domestic long distance calls and local calls if someone is using a home phone. Some people might not know that receiving international calls is also free, due to ignorance or rumors spread deliberately by someone trying to stop those who have lost their jobs or are in poor economic conditions from hearing the truth. Ms. Fan Lanju and Ms. Xiu Zhen from Dongbeiying in Gaoyi County were abducted by the police for no reason while on their way to the farmer' market in Xifu Village on February 1, 2004. Their homes were searched the next day. The two ladies are in their 60's and now being detained in Gaoyi County' detention center. According to an insider, one of them appears to be very ill.

Practitioner Wang Xiuyuan in Shenyang has firm belief in practicing Falun Gong. The Shenhe Police Department arrested her from her home on April 19, 2002 and detained her in Longshan Labor Camp.

The long heavy labor (she is forced to work 16 hours a day) turned her hair white and she cannot straighten her back when standing. She is now very weak and she is losing her eyesight. She cannot see things clearly. Right now she is on a hunger strike with two other practitioners.

On the evening of February 10, 2004, practitioner Zhu Shujuan from Shanhaiguan District of Qinhuangdao City was arrested by the police while distributing flyers. Zhang Deyue, head of the No.1 Section of Shanhaiguan Police Department took some policemen to search her home. On the afternoon of February 11, a practitioner working at a place printing truth clarifying materials was also arrested. His family members were also taken away by the police. They were released during the night. A computer and the printing facilities was confiscated. The two practitioners are now being detained in West Street Police Station in Shanhaiguan District.
