UK: Promoting Falun Gong in Manchester's Chinatown on Chinese New Year
(Clearwisdom.net, February 1, 2004) On January the 25th, Dafa
practitioners went to Manchester's Chinatown to join celebration activities for
the Spring Festival, hand out flyers and clarify the facts about Falun Gong to
Chinese people and westerners. The number of visitors who came to this year's Spring Festival celebration
activities was more than that of recent years. At midday, there was a huge crowd
in Chinatown. Dafa practitioners handed out leaflets to the people on the busy
streets. Many westerners also took the initiative to take the flyers, and raised
some questions to practitioners. The Chinese people's attitude had also changed
a lot. When receiving information from practitioners, many of them sincerely
said thank you. Some of them even asked for information about practice sites and
said that they would like to learn the exercises. One Chinese man came up to practitioners to get a flyer. His wife told him,
"You should also practice Falun Gong after getting home!" Sometimes,
when practitioners handed a flyer to one person who passed by with friends or
family, the others in the group would take the initiative to ask for a Dafa
Video-CD. Many people said that they had read the materials, and had come to
realize the truth about Falun Gong. Upon accepting a flyer, one Chinese person
even said, "I haven't seen your flyers for a long time. Let me see what's
new in it." The Spring Festival activities concluded at dusk with a fireworks display.
Though Dafa practitioners were tired after standing for an entire day, they were
delighted that they had handed out all of their Chinese and English flyers
within several hours. What is worth mentioning is that the practitioners who participated in this
activity were from many different cities. Some of them were from the UK's most
southern coastal cities, others came all the way from Scotland and some came
from the cities around Manchester to support the event. That evening, they
studied Master Li's new articles and exchanged understandings and experiences
with one another. Practitioners believed that they had benefited a lot from
holding this activity. Source: http://clearharmony.net/articles/200402/17547.html
