Dead After Long-term Detention and Torture: Mr. Chen Hanchang from Qidong City, Jiangsu Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Chen Hanchang was a Dafa practitioner from Qidong City, Jiangsu Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, he went to Beijing many times to appeal. As a result, he was arrested and detained many times at the Qidong Detention Center. Later he held an experience sharing conference at his home. He was arrested and sent to the Fangqiang Labor Camp, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province.

While in detention, he suffered inhumane torture. He was forced to do long-term intense physical labor, such as carrying heavy rocks. He used to be a strong, healthy man, yet he was reduced to just skin and bones. After his term finished, the labor camp extended his detention because he refused to give up his belief in Dafa. After the extended term was completed, he was released. However, just several days after he returned home, he was arrested again and sent to the Yujiao Brainwashing Class by the local "610 Office" and he was again brutally tortured. He also had money illegally taken from him.

Despite all the torture, Chen Hanchang was still determined in cultivation. He was then transferred to an out-of-town place where he continued to be tortured. When he was finally released at the end of November 2003, he was in a coma and could not speak. He passed away three days later.
