I started to practice Falun Dafa in 1999. Since then, both my body and mind have been through some tremendous changes. I changed from one suffering from paralysis to a healthy and able person. I feel deep gratitude for our Teacher. In 2000, because a copy of Zhuan Falun [the main text of Falun Gong] was found in my backpack, I was detained by the police and then fined 5,000 yuan [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China]. During my detention the police intimidated my family by saying that if I didn't give up my cultivation in Dafa, I'd be imprisoned. Because of my shallow understanding of the Fa [law or principles], sentimentality towards my family, and a mentality of fear, I wrote a statement against Dafa under the intimidation and temptation of their promises. I gravely regret what I have done and I solemnly declare: All the things I did against Dafa are null and void. I have decided to study the Fa with a tranquil mind and I am determined to follow Teacher's Fa-rectification progress to make up for the wrong things I have done.

I started to practice Falun Dafa when I was over eighty years old. When I first started to practice I was full of confidence and felt that my cultivation in Dafa was going very well. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Dafa first started, I was forced to write a "Guarantee Statement*." At the time I felt that what I was doing was disgusting and at the same time I also felt fearful, therefore I asked someone to write the statement for me. Even though I had asked someone else to write the statement, I didn't give up my cultivation. I deeply felt that to live or die or to suffer amidst tribulations isn't what's frightening, but losing one's long awaited chance to cultivate in Dafa and being able to reach consummation are. Therefore, I solemnly declare that the Guarantee Statement is null and void. I will follow Teacher's teaching and stand up from my fall. I will redouble my efforts to compensate for the damage I have caused and I will be diligent in my cultivation practice and I will never again disappoint Teacher's compassionate salvation.

* Guarantee statement: A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
