Eliminating Jealousy from our Hearts and Working Together as One Body
By a Western Practitioner
After reading a sharing about suing Pan Xinchun and Joel Chipkar's court
case, I thought about how important it is to be one body, what it means to be
one body, and how eliminating our attachments is what's key to the improvement
of the whole body. During my cultivation I would often sense a feeling of
jealousy in my heart when I saw western practitioners in the
"spotlight" which stemmed from my attachment to fame and self-interest
and the notion that perhaps I was somehow inferior if I were not famous enough. This jealousy and feeling of inferiority caused me to hold myself back in
doing Fa-rectification things. I was like the person Master describes in Zhuan
Falun. "Nowadays, it is difficult to be a model worker. "You're a model
worker. You can do it. You should come to work early in the morning and go
home late at night. You can do all this work since you're good at it. We
aren't good enough." People will be sarcastic and cynical, and so it is
not easy even to be a good person." I would start to look for inadequacies and find faults in those practitioners
that were "famous" and would think, "What has he got that I
haven't got." Master says (Zhuan Falun Lecture 7), "This jealousy is somehow related to the absolute egalitarianism that
was once practiced: After all, if the sky falls, everyone should die together;
everyone should have an equal share if there is something good; everyone should
have an equal wage increase, regardless of the percentage of the raise. This
mentality appears to be fair, with everyone being treated equally. In actuality,
how can people be the same? The jobs they do are different, and so is the extent
to which they carry out their responsibilities." I now realize that by my actions I was actually disconnecting myself from the
main body and lessening the strength of the main body, which was totally selfish
and may have unintentionally caused unnecessary interference. I have come to realize that as individuals we are particles of Dafa and that
together we make up the body of Dafa. Just like the human body, all the organs
like the heart, the liver, the kidney's, the brain, and the lungs etc., all
perform specific functions which work in harmony with each other to maintain the
body. The heart doesn't become jealous of the brain, and the liver doesn't feel
jealous of the kidneys, but each does his specific jobs which were arranged.
Master also says, though, that the qi from the heart may move to the intestines,
so my understanding is that sometimes our roles and jobs can change.
Sometimes we may be put into key positions and sometimes we may not, but either
way it is to help us improve as a whole. Another thing I have realized is that we shouldn't feel that our
"jobs" or functions are not good enough because each is necessary to
maintain the harmony of the whole body; just like in the human body, even the
intestines have their needed purpose. We also should not feel complacent or feel
that our jobs are so grand because even the brain needs to be supported by the
lungs with oxygen and the blood's circulation from the heart. When one part is
not doing well in the body, the other parts are affected, which in this
dimension is considered an illness. Just like the body of Dafa disciples, if one
part of the body is not doing well it will affect the other parts inadvertently;
in my understanding this due to our attachments, human notions and selfishness. Only with the support of Dafa disciples working together in harmony and
supporting each other is there strength. Master says in "Explaining the Fa
During the 2003 Lantern Festival," "You're all clarifying the truth, sending righteous thoughts, and
studying the Fa, so the specifics of the things you're doing are different but
the division of roles is orderly, together there's a form, and separated there
are particles." My understanding is that each disciple of Dafa is like an energy channel or
aperture in the body and by improving ourselves individually and working
together we form the indestructible adamantine body and the indestructible,
never degenerating cosmos of the future. Master says in Zhuan Falun
(Lecture 8) "So what's the goal of opening the heavenly circuit? Opening the
heavenly circuit is not itself the purpose of the practice. Even if your
heavenly circuit is opened, I would say that it is still nothing. If one's
cultivation continues further, through the method of the heavenly circuit one
aims at opening hundreds of energy channels via one energy channel, and one
can thereby open all the body's energy channels. We have already started to do
this. With further practice, one will find in the rotation of the great
heavenly circuit that the energy channels will become very wide like a finger
and quite broad inside. Because the energy has also become very powerful,
after the energy current forms, it will become very wide and bright. This is
still nothing. When will the practice be good enough? Hundreds of one's energy
channels must gradually become wider, with energy getting stronger and
brighter. In the end, thousands of energy channels will join together and turn
one's body into one without any energy channels or acupuncture points; they
will join together to make one whole body. This is the ultimate purpose of
opening energy channels. Its goal is to have the human body completely
transformed by the high-energy matter." While writing this article I have improved a lot and many attachments were
exposed. I hope we can all improve ourselves even more and strengthen the main
body. In sharing this article I feel as though I am performing a function
assigned to me at this time. I encourage others to share and to do what we are
supposed to do according to Master's arrangements. This is my current understanding; please point out anything inappropriate.
