Solemn Declarations

During a short return to China in 2002, I was unlawfully detained and taken to a brainwashing center. Due to the fact that I had not studied the Fa well, I had many attachments. With fear and all kinds of human notions, I did something that gave me pain and regret: when the Tianjin Public Security Bureau took me away, I answered questions during their illegal interrogation and signed their so-called "Record of Interrogation." I also revealed the name of four practitioners with overseas passports, and that caused one practitioner to be persecuted by the Beijing Public Security Bureau upon his return to China for work reasons. Later, during my brainwashing sessions, I did not protect Dafa and clarify the truth to the officers who worked in the Public Security, but instead I endured it helplessly. I tried to be sly and evasive with the officers but said a few things against my conscience, giving in to the evil.

All this deviates from the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and the altruism that practitioners should have. Our basic nature should be to validate the Fa and save sentient beings. Thinking back to my fall in cultivation, I finally understand what Teacher means when he says that cultivating with any human notions is very dangerous. I also came to understand the true meaning of Fa-rectification and the existence of human life. A true Falun Dafa practitioner should protect Dafa, save sentient beings, and deny all the evil that has been done to Dafa. I did not understand the sacred duty of Fa-rectification or deny the evil persecution against Dafa and practitioners. Because of my selfishness, fear and bad notions, I gave in to the evil and betrayed other practitioners, and committed a crime against Dafa! I have brought shame to Teacher, Dafa and practitioners, and to myself. I have committed the most shameful act, causing the deepest regret of my life. I hereby solemnly declare to be null and void everything that I did and said against Dafa and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" during the unlawful detention and during the time when my consciousness was unclear due to the influence of attachments. It is our immensely compassionate Teacher that has picked me up time and again, giving me hints to help me to continue improving myself. For this, I can never repay Teacher. Here I would like to take this opportunity to express my true regret. I will change my ways, break free from my attachments, improve myself and amend any losses I have caused Dafa. I want to truly immerse myself into the Fa and treasure every second. I must do well the three things that Teacher has asked of us: Fa study, clarifying the truth and sending forth righteous thoughts.

In August 2002, the section within the township government in charge of persecuting Falun Gong and officers from the local police station charged into my home, forced me into a police car, and took me to a brainwashing center. The head of the center extorted over 2,000 yuan (1) from my husband, saying that if he did not hand over the money, I would not be released. They then threatened my husband, saying that they would sentence me to a forced labour camp. My husband did not have any choice and used 800 yuan to buy gifts to bribe the officials at the "610 Office" (2). I was thus released after being detained for 39 days. On the day of my release, they asked my husband for another 100 yuan, claiming that it was my check up fee (actually, there was no check up at all). After this event occurred, it was reported on the Clearwisdom website. On January 13, 2004, four police officers from the "610 Office" charged into my home and asked who published the article on the website about me being persecuted in the brainwashing center, including details about the fines and gifts given to the officers. I said, "I do not know." They then asked me who I had talked to. I said, "It has been so long. I can't remember. But it does not matter who wrote the article, it is all the truth." They then threateningly asked my husband, "Is it true that you bought 800 yuan worth of gifts?" My husband was afraid that I would be persecuted again so he lied and said no. They then asked if I was still practicing. My husband quickly said, "No." (This is because in 2001 when I said, "I am still practicing," they tried to sentence me to a forced labor camp). I said that I have a right to freedom of belief and that they were all breaking the law while supposedly "carrying out the law." They did not listen and wrote two notes and forced my husband and me to each sign separately and then forcibly took our fingerprints. I would like to declare that these two notes are null and void. (1) yuan: Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 yuan.

(2) "610 Office": a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
