Practitioner Ms. Liu Yanmei's Personal Account of Persecution: Once Tortured to Mental Disorientation

I am Ms. Liu Yanmei, age 41, from Dagou Village of Dawangzhuang Village in Qinan County, Shandong Province.

Before I began practicing Falun Dafa, I suffered from heart and lung disease, which had already advanced to a late stage. It was Falun Dafa that gave me a second life. Within six months of practicing Falun Dafa, I was fully recovered. Furthermore, practicing Dafa improved my thoughts and I became much kinder.

Because Jiang's regime began persecuting Dafa, I wanted people to learn the truth about Falun Dafa. I believed that I could do that by sharing my personal experiences. Therefore, I traveled to Beijing in Spring 2000. After appealing to the government I was detained and fined. In Beijing I was handcuffed to a specially-made steel chair for 48 hours. After that, I was transferred to Qinan County Detention Center in Shandong Province. During the entire trip to Qinan I was handcuffed with my hands shackled to a luggage rack. This was extremely painful.

After I was detained at the jail, I was subjected to inhuman torture by policeman Liu Zhijie of Qinan County Detention Center. He forced me to stand inside the cell, and ordered me to reach with my hands through a specially made mini-size steel window on the upper portion of the big iron cell door. He then pulled my hands apart from the middle of the iron window. After that, he pulled my hands with force, handcuffed both hands together and pulled both hands to the outside extremely hard. My head hit the iron cell door repeatedly. He did not stop pulling my hands. I lost count as to how often my head had hit the iron cell door, I felt very dizzy, and my head became swollen. My wrist became raw as the iron teeth of the handcuffs cut into my skin. The pain was excruciating. My whole body shook. Seeing me biting my teeth to endure and keeping silent, he began to swear at me. He kept pulling my handcuffs, which resulted in a lot of blood dripping to the floor. He then took off his shoes, and beat the back of my hands. The pain was beyond any description. I could no longer stop the tears running down the face.

Later, I was transferred to Wanggezhuang Village Government Brainwashing Center, where the treatment was even more brutal. The extended torture methods were very cruel. In the Spring of 2000, I became mentally disoriented as a result of the constant abuse. I was unable to remember anything and had to rely on fellow practitioners. After one year, my memory began to return.

While in detention, we were locked up in a cell, brainwashed, cruelly tortured repeatedly, and forced to do hard labor. In the labor camp, we were forced to work for long hours, and often the work was far beyond my abilities to endure. Furthermore, steadfast Dafa practitioners were not allowed any breaks. I became very weak, and was in poor health. Before I was admitted to the forced labor camp, I was in good health. I was a healthy person before I suffered all of the aforementioned mistreatment. After being released from the forced-labor camp I felt discomfort in my body almost every day. I was released prior to my term expiration due to a failed medical check-up at the Military Army General Group Hospital in Jinan City, Shandong Province. They realized that my life was in great danger. They were afraid that they would have to bear the consequences should I die in their custody, thus they released me.
