Zhang Dazha, 62, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dawang Village in Chenjiazhuang Town of Jinzhou City, Hebei Province. He was arrested by authorities on the night of January 1, 2003. While in detention at the Jinzhou City Labor Camp, the police shone a bright light in his eyes and tortured him using the heat from the lamp. Because the police did not allow his family to visit him, further details of his torture are yet unknown. On December 15, 2003 he was transferred to Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Wenxue, 35, was arrested on December 28, 2002 and was brutally beaten. On December 15, 2003 he was transferred to Tangshan City.
Practitioner Zhang Jianping, 41, was arrested and sent to Tangshan City on January 1, 2003.
Practitioner Zhang Zhengang, 43, was arrested on the night of January 1, 2003. He was detained at the Jinzhou City Labor Camp for one year. On December 15, 2003 he was transferred to Tangshan City.
It has been learned that Zhang Zhengang and Zhang Dazha were sentenced to three years of forced labor. Zhang Wenxue and Zhang Jianping were sentenced to seven years. However, it is not known where in Tangshan City the above-mentioned practitioners are being held.
