MEP Roger Helmer Writes to "European Friends of Falun Gong" about the "Appalling Treatment" of Practitioners in Paris

European Friends of Falun Gong (EFOFG) is a non-profit human rights organization founded by Europeans concerned about the persecution of Falun Gong. Its members include a range of European dignitaries, politicians and VIPs.

Dear European Friends of Falun Gong

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners during the Chinese New Year celebrations in Paris. I completely sympathise with you on this matter. These allegations, if true, are a blatant illegality and a serious disregard for civil liberties and the right to freedom of expression.

I wrote to the French Ambassador, Gerard Errera, on January 30th raising my concerns over the appalling treatment of the practitioners. Furthermore, I have asked that these allegations be investigated as soon as possible, and that the Parisian authorities clarify the grounds on which the arrests were made.

I will update you on any developments as soon as I have them.
