(Clearwisdom.net) Minghui reporter Kelley Huang reports from San Francisco -- The United Nations' Commission on Human Rights is currently holding its 60th session in Geneva. The inhuman persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's group has drawn special attention from people throughout the world. On April 3, Falun Gong practitioners from Northern California and 16 organizations held a rally at the U.N. Plaza in San Francisco to support the resolution condemning China's human rights violations, which was proposed by the United States at the 2004 U.N. Commission on Human Rights meeting. They called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong and appealed for the rescue of illegally imprisoned family members in China.

At the rally, Steve, a representative from the International Coalition against Persecution, urged all countries to support the resolution on China and demanded China to stop the persecution.

Steve pointed out that China's human rights record has been backsliding. Victims of the human rights violations included Falun Gong practitioners, religious believers, political dissenters and their family members. Among them, the persecution encountered by Falun Gong practitioners is the most severe. Since this year's session of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights started on March 15, more than a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were reported to have died from the persecution in China.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shen Shumin, who was rescued from China and came to the U.S., spoke at the rally. She called upon people to uphold justice and work together to stop the persecution and rescue the imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners in China. She related her experiences in practicing Falun Gong and the miraculous benefit she received from the practice. Unfortunately, after the suppression began, her basic rights were severely trampled and she suffered from both physical and mental torture. Through rescue efforts from overseas fellow practitioners, the United Nations and the U.S. government, she came to the U.S and deeply felt the preciousness of regaining the freedom.

Falun Gong spokesperson Mr. Allen Zeng said that over the past more than four years of persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have never returned the same when they were beaten or abused. In face of the brutal persecution, they are not giving in; instead, they peacefully and persistently clarify the truth to people from all walks of life.

Mr. Zuo Geyun from the Jinshan Freedom Forum denounced the Chinese government's suppression and killing of Falun Gong practitioners and religious believers. He expressed his support to oppose the Chinese government's oppression of Falun Gong and human rights violations.

Sixteen organizations participated in the rally and cosigned a statement to be delivered to the United Nations, requesting the 53 members of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights to condemn China's human rights violations and help stop the persecution of Falun Gong.
