On November 28, 2003, the Qiaodong Court in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, failed to illegally sentence three Dafa practitioners, Mr. Ru Jianbin, Mr. Li Jun and Ms. Zhao Wenlan. Since then, the court dared not hold public trials. The court made a large-scale internal adjustment. It was through much effort that we learned Ru Jianbin was secretly sentenced to 14 years and Li Jun was secretly sentenced to 11 years and is currently appealing. Zhao Wenlan was sentenced to 10 years; she is on a hunger strike and her life is in danger.

On January 21, 2004 two practitioners were abducted from their homes. In mid February, more than ten practitioners went missing and two Dafa material production sites were destroyed. The incomplete statistics show currently there are more than 30 practitioners missing.

The "Psychiatric Group" in the Liaoning Province Shenyang City Women's Prison is a place designated for psychotic criminals. However, since 2002, the Shenyang City Women's Prison has locked Dafa practitioners in the "Psychiatric Section" and injected them with drugs that damage their central nervous system. The drugs have already made some practitioners suffer mental disorders. The author witnessed how the practitioners were persecuted with his own eyes. There are practitioners still being persecuted.

On the night of February 17, 2004, Lin Shouqing led police officers from the Zhangjiakou City Qiaoxi District Dajingmen Police Station to destroy a Dafa materials production site in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Yuzhi, from Zhangjiakou City, and Li (first name unknown), from the Yangyuan County, were taken. Zhang and Li are now imprisoned in the Municipal Detention Center.

In Hengyang City, Yu Aiping and four other practitioners were abducted by "610 Office" over a week ago. Their exact whereabouts are not known and but rumor has it they were taken to Changsha City, Hunan Province.

Since February 2004, the Sheqi County "610 Office" and the National Security Team have taken away seven Dafa practitioners. They are Hui Rongqi (61 years old, was sent to Shuchang for forced labor on March 31) and Duan Shuqing from the Xinglong County; Ping Dingrui and Liu Shangqun from Qiaotou Town; and Ju Tianqing, Zhao Zhongqing and Zhang Zhaoyang from Mopi County.

After two meetings in Beijing, Chengde City 610 Officers and several others started to persecute the Falun Gong practitioners again. Their main targets were those who distribute truth-clarifying materials about Dafa and those who went to Beijing to appeal. They incorporated the persecution with the other duties of the low level officials. If Dafa practitioners were found clarifying the truth to the public, the related officials would be removed from work. They also forced these officials (in the community offices, the patrol offices, and the village commission offices) to do illegal things such as look for Dafa practitioners door-by-door and force them to write the "Four statements"(2), and have their families sign the "Guarantee Statement"(3). The police and secret service sent a lot of people to spy on or monitor practitioners and look for excuses to persecute practitioners.

Practitioner Yuan Zehuan is from Qizhuang, Lisongzhuang Village, Tongzhaipu Town, Tanghe County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. At the beginning of March 2004, Yuan went to work in Pindingshan and told the locals the truth about Dafa and the persecution. Yuan was taken and later transferred to Tanghe Prison. Yuan's family is not allowed to visit.

Practitioner Zhang Shutian, from Longhua County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, was illegally sentenced to four years by the Longhua County Court. Zhang has been transferred to Chengde County Xiabancheng Prison.

At eleven o'clock on the morning of February 6, 2004, a person from the Residence Commission pretended to visit practitioner Ms. Xi Xiaomeng's house in Guangning Village, Shijingshan District in Beijing. In reality, this person went to see whether Xi was at home or not and quickly left. Soon after this person left, the Residence Commission led a patrol of police officers from the Guangning Village Police Station to break into Ms. Xi's house. They took Ms. Xi away on the pretext of interviewing her. Two police officers stayed and searched Xi's home after her arrest.

After Xi was arrested, her family was denied visitation and no one knows her current situation. There is no one to take care of her barber shop and seven-year-old child. Xi's barber shop was famous for the warm and inexpensive service. This was especially true for the elderly and children. Her acquaintances knew that she was a good person. She told people that it was because Falun Gong teaches her "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" and to be considerate of others at all times. She wanted to be a good person in everything she did and to be a selfless person who always put others first. Her neighbors have a very good impression of her; however, this kind and good person was taken to prison and is being brutally tortured.

(1) The 610 Office: an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(2) Four Statements: Practitioners are coerced under to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the four statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners

(3) Guarantee Statement: A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
