Chen Yanxiu, Staff Member at Songzao Coal Mine Hospital, Qijiang County, Chongqing City Is Abducted Again


Ms. Chen Yanxiu, a staff member at Songzao Coal Mine Hospital, Qijiang County, Chongqing City, is about 50 years old. She began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. Before she began to practice, she suffered from various illnesses. Medication didn't work, nor did her offerings of incense to the gods, asking for their help in healing her. As a practitioner of Falun Dafa she began to live according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" at all times. As a result, all her illnesses were healed and she felt very relieved.

Before she began to practice Falun Dafa, her husband divorced her. Despite this, she continued to look after and care for her elderly mother-in-law, as if she had been caring for her for many years. She never uttered a complaint about bathing her mother-in-law or cleaning the soiled bedclothes. She paid for her mother-in-law's food, clothing and medical treatment until her death. She never asked for a cent from the mother-in-law's children.

Chen Yanxiu's sense of duty in caring for her mother-in-law, her compassion, and competence led her children to regard her with high esteem. She explained to them that it was her practice of Falun Gong that made it possible for her to have such compassion. They respected her and sought her advice whenever their was a family dispute. Chen Yanxiu introduced the principles of Falun Gong, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in a vivid and simple manner for them to understand. They were happy to visit her.

Chen Yanxiu radiated her compassion everywhere. She once gave 20 yuan to a beggar who was extremely hungry, even though that was all the money she had. When she saw farmers laboring in the mines without clean water to drink, she took them tea every day of her own accord, and accepted no money in exchange. As a result, when another Dafa practitioner later clarified the truth about Dafa to them, one man replied, "We all know that Falun Gong is good. When I was working on an odd job before, a Falun Gong practitioner working in the hospital served us free tea each day."

As her work unit leader put it, "The two Falun Gong practitioners in our hospital make excellent role models in terms of their ability and character."

But the police persecuted her relentlessly. She was unreasonably dismissed from her job in the summer of 2002. She was abducted at least 3 times and savagely beaten many times. One day when she was returning home from collecting garbage, the police were waiting for her. Upon her return, she was beaten in her home. She was brutally hit on her legs by police with handcuffs. She couldn't walk afterward. Then, she was dragged into the police car and illegally held for 1 month.

On April 2004, the evil abducted her using the excuse of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) annual meeting. Han Jie dragged her from the chair out to the police car. While facing them, Chen Yanxiu thought about the farmers in the mine. There would be no water for them to drink now. She pleaded with her husband to take water to them in her place. Everyone there was moved. They said, "Such a good person is very hard to find in this world."

At the beginning of April 2004, Chen Yanxiu was abducted again, and held at the detention center in the Developing District, Qijiang County. She is still being held there, leaving her 80 year old mother at home unattended.
