5. How to Deal with Problems in Truth Clarification

Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference,"

(1) People Don't Understand the Seriousness of the Persecution. Dafa Disciples Can Save Them by Telling Them the Truth

The current law does not allow diplomatic immunity for a person who has committed genocide. This law exists in this world, but why do people still stand by and do nothing? Actually people do not clearly understand the nature of the persecution. Some governments have not realized the critical situation of the persecution, and do not think it is genocide, so therefore try to stop it through legal procedures. The fundamental reason is because we have not clarified the truth of Falun Dafa and the persecution, or have not explained it clearly. If we can clearly explain the truth, we will be able to push it forward. We need to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate interference from all dimensions, and at the same time clarify the truth well. When people truly understand the situation, financial temptations will not keep them from supporting the lawsuit.

The legal process restricts the scope and function of our clarifying the truth when we try to push forward the lawsuit. If we do not allow our thoughts to limit us, we can widely clarify the truth without restriction. We are not just against the persecution in the human world. The result of clarifying the truth can't be restrained by court proceedings. It is to save people, without the expectation of them helping us. When we clarify the truth, we can inadvertently try to convince others to help by trying to prove ourselves correct. We should instead guide them to reconsider.

In pursuit of material benefits, people, organizations, and countries often succumb to the pressure and lure of personal gain, and abandon the law and human rights issues. Only Dafa disciples can scrupulously follow and keep righteous thoughts, and save sentient beings by telling them the true facts. Clarifying the truth is not only suffocating the evil, but saving people. Clarifying the truth is the master key and the law is one means to that end. We must clarify the truth to everyone eventually and that includes everyone we meet. We are not asking them to help us, but helping them understand the true facts.

(2) Advance the Overall Situation by Clarifying the Truth Face to Face

We try to clarify the truth to judges and others face to face, because this has the greatest impact. Whether we are able to meet with them to do this is directly related to the advancement of the overall situation. The Fa-rectification comes very fast. We are very cautious and dare not boldly speak the truth; but the evil doesn't care and uses all means to interfere. Ordinary people will make wrong decisions when they are duped by lies. Strong public opinion and a righteous field will support the judge's righteousness after we clarify the truth well to the entire legal community, every level of government, local media, state congressmen, and the populace at large.

What is the aim of the old forces persecuting us? To negate our righteous thoughts? Our righteous thoughts come from Dafa, from the great mission of validating the Fa, not from the old forces' torture. Is the existing legal system enough to stop this persecution? Our understanding should be from a larger perspective than simply the legal system, and we should discuss it in significant depth.

We have a "test" to pass. How do we deal socially with ordinary people, especially professionals such as lawyers, the media, scholars, and officials? For a long time fear, a conservative mentality, selfishness, and the feeling that we are not compassionate enough were all barriers on our path of cultivation. Most of the time we were only compassionate for fear of offending others. We need to be quite clear about the priority of saving sentient beings. When we pass this test, wisdom will continuously flow from the Fa, clarifying the understanding, "The Buddha-light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all abnormalities." Don't our righteous thoughts, energy, and faith come from assimilating to the Fa?

(3) Helping People Understand the Law Will Protect Our Values

We must tell people that the persecution of Falun Gong violates the law. How do you explain "Human rights are given by heaven?" The law is to protect our values, not to restrict them. The United States founded their nation based on those values. The United States wouldn't exist if the laws were used to restrict freedom.

We should clarify the truth well to people so that they include Falun Dafa and its persecution in their discussions and agendas. They should discuss the issues we raise, talk about the persecution facts that we bring to light, and discuss human rights issues that we clarified. It is very powerful when everyone does it together and cooperates as one body.

(4) The Media is a Weak Link in Our Truth Clarification

The media is one of the weakest facets in our current truth clarification. We have not thoroughly clarified to mainstream media the many truths and changes in the current situation in China. The old forces tightly blocked the media in some countries, but the evil can no longer control it when we have a breakthrough in media. Of course we can also turn it around, enabling the people and media to understand the truth, thus reaching a larger audience and having a greater impact. We should let more people know about every lawsuit in light of the persecution. It is better to reach a broad scope of people and to help form a consensus via local media in society.

We have shortcomings. A comparatively prominent aspect is that we lack enough righteous thoughts in areas that we are not familiar with. The other shortcoming is that we do not make enough effort to educate ourselves. Dafa practitioners have done many things well by making efforts, but need to make even greater efforts in government and media work. This is because we have regarded the media and government work as matters that a certain group of practitioners or project teams handle, and thus had little involvement ourselves; hence we neglected something important. Actually the lawsuit against Jiang, other lawsuits related to the persecution, the massive persecution facts reported by Clearwisdom, and the responses of people in China and globally regarding the true facts of the persecution are all suitable topics for clarifying the truth to media, government officials, human rights organizations, and others using the Internet, flyers, pamphlets, websites, newspapers, and phone calls. Content and form can meld. "Clarify the truth comprehensively, widely, thoroughly, and carefully" was requested of Dafa practitioners several years ago.

"Comprehensively, thoroughly, carefully" includes every practitioner clarifying the truth from all angles by unifying various forms and content, so that we can meld together in a short period of time.

(5) Knowing Oneself and Others During Truth Clarification

There is also an issue of knowing oneself and the other party while clarifying the truth, which is challenging for some practitioners. Some practitioners become happy when people deal with us superficially; probably because of insufficient experience or an attachment to the result. We must rationally and calmly distinguish between what is true support, and what is not. The meaning of knowing oneself and the other party is that we should always thoroughly understand well the situation, the crux of the problem, and what our position is, so we can adeptly guide actions according to circumstances, and complete what we are supposed to do with great wisdom.

(6) The Persecution by Jiang's Regime is Ruining People's Conscience and Sense of Responsibility to the Legal Systems in Democratic Countries

We should remind judges and governments that the basis of the law is to protect justice and impartiality, not to protect economic interests and individual power. In a democratic country, the legal system should be independent. It is much more important for the legal system to protect its duty to serve justice than to protect the president from being sued.

What are the responsibilities of a legal system in a western democratic country? (1) The former president of China, Jiang, persecutes and kills his own people, and suppresses Falun Gong because practitioners practice "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and are kind-hearted. (2) Jiang lied to legalize the persecution, make "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" illegal, create hatred, and provoke and mislead the world's people. The separation of power is the framework upon which the United States was founded. For a long time after forming the nation, people did not make laws. Laws are to maintain basic values, morality, and fundamental national interests. Economic interests are not the foundation in forming a nation and especially should not mislead national morality and legal principles.

We can tell them that their colleagues, along with judges, government officials, and even the whole of society are persecuted in China. It is the same when clarifying the truth to judges and other ordinary people. We need to tell them the most evil thing--the nature of the persecution.

Jiang's regime threatens every country by leveraging people's desire for money. This can be used to break through in clarifying the truth.

(7) Clarify the Truth with a Pure Heart

When we clarify the truth to sentient beings we must be especially pure, so that their aware side understands more and their corresponding living beings in the massive cosmic bodies will also understand, and even help their human side to understand.

In an experience sharing speech a practitioner from Washington DC said, "Every time we did things that we did not completely understand, it did not go smoothly because we were not clear about what we were doing. When we truly understood it from the Fa, we were very clear and determined."

(8) Everyone Takes More Initiative When It Is More Open

A fellow practitioner from Europe told us that she did not trust other practitioners in the beginning. After studying the Fa, she now understands that every practitioner must walk their own path towards consummation; anyone is able to do well. When truth clarification work is more open, practitioners take more initiative. Practitioners are mature now.

Many practitioners asked, "Why do we feel that we have not done much, and see many shortcomings and problems among each other, but Teacher often says disciples are great?" This is probably because the practitioners' sides that have not fully cultivated cannot be evaluated together with the great historical missions that Teacher has given us. All fellow practitioners are walking the paths that Teacher has arranged.

(9) Coordination Amongst Practitioners Should Be Based on the Fa

How do we deal with misunderstandings and differences of opinion among fellow practitioners? When we look at another person's problem at the same level, there may be many conflicting issues. If we look at it from a higher level, everyone is actually doing very well; the entire body is cultivating and validating the Fa. If you look at it from the perspective of a lower level, you won't understand it, and this is directly related to one's own level. If a living being is at a low level, then it won't be able to understand living beings at higher levels. Every life has a growing process. From the perspective of a living being at a very high level, the beings at lower levels appear not that good. Although our world isn't extremely simple, it is prosperous when we can allow for other living beings to improve.

Not long ago a practitioner said, "When an aggressive reporter attacked our practice, we did not collectively send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil." Looking inward actually became looking for "other's shortcoming amongst ourselves." We thought others had not acted according to the Fa, and simply treated the problem at a human level. The old forces influenced the evil regime in the human world to attack Falun Gong with all its strength. Every time they tried to suppress us, they actually promoted us. If we don't clearly see the nature of the persecution, and if we accuse and restrict each other, then it is difficult to understand that the old forces are persecuting us. The pressure from this causes serious internal friction, and even renders individual practitioners unable to bear it, and they may leave the group. This has already happened.

We need to righteously regard fellow practitioner's help as real help. When we are not steady, it is possible to misunderstand other practitioner's help. Treating each other righteously is the basis for practitioners to coordinate and closely cooperate. One practitioner said, during the process of preparing to sue Bo Xilai, she suddenly changed her fundamental human mentalities by seeing fellow practitioners overcoming so many difficulties, continuously working long hours, sending forth righteous thoughts together to clean out the evil, and the strong force of one body. When Fa-rectification has the need, fellow practitioners immediately appear where they should be. With each of us doing our best, the whole body cooperates to assimilate to Dafa. This is what we should see when looking at fellow practitioners with Dafa's standard, instead of restricting others with our human sides which we have not yet assimilated.

(10) Support the Lawsuits in Every Country, Clarify the Truth to the People Near You Starting Today

The lawsuits in every country have formed an inescapable net, and tightly restricted the evil head and its entourage. Each lawsuit supports the other, pushing forward together, creating an immense battle formation, directly affecting the relevant countries and governments, and provides a powerful tool in the overall truth clarification.

Each lawsuit is a slow advancement process that affords us the time and opportunity to clarify the truth, and provides justification to contact the area and people that are not readily approachable. In the eyes of practitioners, the lawsuit is not just composed of a few debate dates on a court docket. The smoothness of the court proceedings hinges on the overall regular progress in widely clarifying the truth. Practitioners create a strong righteous field in the human world. This will help the judge to make honest decisions for the good of the country, and only then can the initial principle of legislation be implemented, with the administrative department defending the legal sanctity and supporting the independent ruling of the court.

From now on, it is extremely important to clarify the truth in depth to the government, congress, media, lawyers, academics, and community groups that are concerned with human rights in every district and country. If we do this comprehensively, then we will effectively be helping the practitioners who are doing the legal work. For example, if before we have told the local people the truth deeply and widely, we drive to another city, we have probably treated the work superficially. Just as a rally is a manifestation of our clarifying the truth, the rally should not be the goal of clarifying the truth. When practitioners righteously join the force, no matter what we are doing, we are helping the immense force of Fa-rectification, we are helping other practitioners' projects, and helping the legal lawsuits to proceed smoothly.

6. Easy Way to Participate

Besides publishing practitioners' experience sharing articles on Clearwisdom, every study group can discuss methods suitable for their local situations. But please pay attention to avoid drifting to superficial activities, and concentrate on steadfastly explaining the truth and saving the sentient beings.
