Brutality at the Harbin Female Prison: Qu Jie Tortured to Death, Du Guijie in Critical Condition

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Qu Jie was a practitioner from Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. She was a retired worker around 60 years old, and lived in the Gongnong District of Hegang City. Because she firmly cultivated Falun Dafa, she was arrested in late April 2002 and later sentenced to four years in prison. Recently Ms. Qu was tortured to death at the Harbin Female Prison in Heilongjiang Province. The details of her death are yet to be investigated.

Ms. Du Guijie, 30, was an employee of Hegang City First People's Hospital. She was also arrested and sent to Harbin Female Prison. Because of the torture she suffered, Ms. Du is now in critical condition. When her family requested that she be released, the prison authorities refused to let her go. Moreover, the prison police extorted nearly a thousand yuan (1) from her family members.

According to a report on Minghui.net, over ten practitioners in Hegang City alone were illegally sentenced in October 2002, with the longest term being thirteen years. A total of fifty-six practitioners were arrested in October 2002.
