Recent Persecution Against Falun Gong Practitioners in Chengdu City

1. 60-year-old Dafa practitioner Ms. Ying Qirong lived in the residential building for employees of the Department of Broadcasting and Television in Chengdu City. Criminals from the Jinjiang District of Chengdu City abducted her from home on May 15, 2004 and took her to a brainwashing class.

2. At about 10:30 a.m. on June 28, 2004, three men and a woman from the Tianwanting Police Department in Yunnan Province, along with the policemen from the Qinglong Police Department in the Chenghua District, Chengdu City, broke into Dafa practitioner Gu Zhengfen's home. They abducted her and illegally searched the home. Chief Wen from the residential committee was the person who knocked the door open. Right now Gu Zhengfen's whereabouts are unknown.

3. Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Ying is from Qinglong Residential Area of Chenghua District in Chengdu City. She was illegally monitored around the clock by personnel from the Qinglong Police Department, the Qinglong Township government and security personnel from the residential area. They attempted to hold her for over half a month. Each time Liu Ying escaped with the power of her righteous thoughts.

4. Dafa practitioner Mr. Deng Jiangang from Pengshan County is a doctor. He was arrested several times and tortured. Four of his ribs were broken as a result of beatings, and one of his ears was beaten to deafness. His feet were injured from the beatings and he was illegally sentenced to three years of incarceration. Though his term was up, he was still not released. Soon after he returned, his feet were beaten again and became injured. Even now when he walks, his feet are still handicapped. At the end of May this year, he was again abducted. His whereabouts are still unknown.

The policeman who participated in the persecution was Xiao Deyuan from Pengshan County.

5. In the afternoon of June10, 2004, Gao Mingliang, deputy party secretary from the Wuhou District Political and Law Committee in Chengdu City, said at a meeting held by the district, "The target of Falun Gong will be focused over these three years. Last year was the beginning, this year is the focus of the focus, and next year will be the summary. This year, Falun Gong should be punished severely."
