Qian Shiguang, a Senior Engineer from the Northwest Geological Research Institute, Was Severely Tortured at Tuanhe Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) In September 2002, because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa, Mr. Qian Shiguang, was illegally detained in Class Four, Team Three of the Tuanhe Labor Camp. Mr. Qian, a senior engineer at the Northwest Geological Research Institute, refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. As a result, policeman Yi Hongsong kept him in the dark, damp well house for over three months. Every morning, Mr. Qian had to get up at 5:40 a.m. After washing himself and finishing the morning drills, he was brought back to the well house until 3:00 a.m. It would sometimes not be until 4:00 a.m. that he would be allowed to go to sleep. In this way, Mr. Qian could only sleep for two hours each night. During the day, prisoners would surround him and not allow him to take any naps. He was punished by being made to stand for a long time. At around 10:00 p.m. each night, a prisoner named Yi Zhiguo (a Korean) would torture Qian Shiguang. He made Mr. Qian stand in front of an open window with the cold wind freezing him, often beat him up and poured cold water down the back of his neck. Qian Shiguang tried many times to persuade Yi Zhiguo to do good deeds and to accumulate virtue instead of beating people. He told him that his evil deeds would receive due retribution. However, Yi Zhiguo kept on doing bad deeds without coming to his senses. In the end he received retribution and suffered from illness all over his body.

Because he had been made to stand for a long period of time, Qian Shiguang's legs and feet were swollen. A policeman named Yi Hongsong incited Xu Minghua and He Yi to beat Mr. Qian. They placed full water bottles out to chill at night, and during the day, they poured them down his neck. One morning in mid-December 2002, Qian Shiguang shouted in the exercise yard: "Falun Dafa is good!" The police and the villains dragged him to the back of a barn. He was pushed to the ground and beaten up. After that, Yi Hongsong ordered the villain Xu Minghua to pour water down Mr. Qian's neck, soaking his underwear. After he was tortured in that way, he was detained at the well house and not allowed to change into dry clothes. One night in the winter 2002 after a heavy snowfall, Yi Hongsong ordered policemen Yi Zhiguo and He Yi, to drag Qian Shiguang outside. They pushed him to the ground and stripped off his clothes. Two people picked up snowballs and scrubbed his body with them, and also poured water on him. After that they detained him in the well house again. By this time, Qian Shiguang was frozen and shaking.

At the end of March 2003, Team Three held a brainwashing session to persecute Qian Shiguang and several other steadfast Dafa practitioners. Jiang, the Section Chief of the Education Section, went in person to threaten Mr. Qian several times: "You have to be transformed (1)." One day, Jiang took Teacher Li's photo and asked Qian Shiguang to tear it apart. After Qian refused to, Jiang was so angry that he slapped Qian's face several times. Yi Hongsong and another person with the last name Zhou (they were both in charge of Class Four) went in person to force Qian Shiguang under a bed, which rendered him unable to turn his body over. His head stuck out past the iron bed rail. Mr. Qian was forced to stare at the ceiling and was not allowed to take a nap. He was even not allowed to use the toilet. When he could not hold his urine in any longer, he urinated in his pants and it pooled on the ground. The villains poured water on him and made him lie in the urine. Even at night, Mr. Qian was not allowed to go to the bathroom. Since he had to hold his urine in for long periods of time, he was extremely uncomfortable.

Instigated by policeman Yi Hongsong, Song Qiao and Wei Hongtao stepped on Mr. Qian's hands and feet. They kicked him in the chest and stomach, rode on his neck, and pushed his head down until he was out of breath and his little fingers and toenails were bleeding. The bruises under his nails did not go away until ten months later. They squeezed dirty mops out into his mouth and used a hard plastic brush to beat his face. They also used a flyswatter (made of wire mesh) to hit him on the face and stuck it in his mouth. One night, Qian Shiguang was forced to hold a military position. Since his leg hurt severely, he sat on the ground. The police pulled him out of the dormitory, past the lobby to the bathroom. They struck his face until his nose bled. Immediately after that, they poured a basin of cold water over him.

At the end of April, Qian Shiguang went on a hunger strike for almost 50 days to protest against the policeman's persecution. He was extremely weak. Policeman Yi Hongsong asked several villains to prop him up and run around in the exercise yard. During this abuse, Mr. Qian's legs and feet scraped along the ground. During his hunger strike, Mr. Qian was brutally force-fed. In order to cause him more pain, the perpetrators purposely removed and reinserted the feeding tube into his stomach, pushing it in and out of his throat several times. Sometimes after taking it, out they re-inserted the tube into his nose. They poured tap water into the very diluted corn porridge, force-fed him with water, and prevented him from going to the bathroom. After that, the persecutors sent Mr. Qian to the toughest class to continue tormenting him. There the villains hit him on his head, legs and hands with the sole of a shoe. They would also use his chest, back and legs as a punching bag. He would be brutalized from the time he got up at 5:00 a.m. until midnight. The toughest class was held during the period of the SARS epidemic.

At the beginning of August 2003, Mr. Qian was sent to the Training Team, where the policemen were awarded a 5,000 yuan (2) cash bonus for brainwashing Dafa practitioners who had resisted being brainwashed for a long period of time. In order to get this bonus, a policeman named Wang Da pressured the non-practitioner prisoners every day, to force them to intensify their efforts in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. All day long, Qian Shiguang was forced to sit in the military position, holding a piece of paper pressed between his knees. He was not allowed to move, lean against anything, or take a nap. A villain named Qiao Po pinched Qian Shiguang's legs and the sides of his body. His back and lower body were bruised as a result. Qiao Po also used his hands to squash Mr. Qian's lower back and belly. Another villain severely beat him up. Every day, he was tortured from 5 a.m. to midnight, and later the torture was kept up until 3 a.m. each day. Once, a guard ordered the prisoner who was on duty at 3 a.m. to knock Qian Shiguang on the head so that he could not sleep. This prisoner still had his conscience, and he could hardly go through with it. In the end they increased the number of prisoners tormenting Mr. Qian to eight, rotating on three shifts. They tortured Mr. Qian in a dark room. For three days and nights, they did not allow him to sleep. They beat him up whenever he fell asleep. They did not allow him to go to the bathroom, and so he had to urinate in his pants. He was poorly fed: for every meal, he could only have a small bun, which was sometimes moldy. The policemen instigated the scoundrels to torture Qian Shiguang for long periods of time in such an inhumane way. As a result, by the end of 2003, Qian Shiguang was diagnosed by the labor camp hospital in Daxing District, Beijing as having tuberculosis and severe back problems. Afraid of shouldering the responsibility, the Tuanhe Labor Camp released Qian Shiguang on medical bail to receive medical treatment out side of the labor camp.
