Central News Agency (Taiwan): Hong Kong Falun Gong Practitioners Continue to Seek Justice against Jiang Zemin for His Persecution of Falun Gong
(Clearwisdom.net) According to Central News Agency's report on September 19,
in response to the Chinese government's announcement about Jiang Zemin's
retirement from his last post as chief of the nation's military, Hong Kong Falun
Gong practitioners expressed that they would not give up their effort to bring
Jiang, the chief perpetrator in the persecution of Falun Gong, to justice. In
addition to filing lawsuits against Jiang in international courts, practitioners
hope that the new Chinese leaders would not persecute Falun Gong any more and
return justice to them. Kan Hung-cheung, spokesperson for the Hong Kong Falun Dafa Association, said
during an interview with Central News Agency, that since July 20, 1999 when
Jiang and his followers started suppressing Falun Gong practitioners, at least
1049 practitioners have died as a result of the persecution, more than 6000
practitioners were sentenced to prisons and 100,000 practitioners imprisoned in
forced labor camps. He said that whether or not Jiang retired from his post or not, he must be
held accountable for his persecution of Falun Gong from the perspectives of law,
morality and conscience. Therefore, Falun Gong practitioners all over the world
will continue to file lawsuits against Jiang in international courts. So far,
Falun Gong practitioners have filed legal complaints in ten countries and
regions against Jiang and his followers. Mr. Kan Hung-cheung hoped that no matter who is in power, the persecution of
Falun Gong will be stopped and justice be upheld, so that people in Mainland
China would have the freedom to believe in and practice Falun Gong.
