Benxi City Forced Labor Camp Brutally Persecutes Practitioners to a Point of Mental Collapse, Blames Their Condition on Falun Gong

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Gao Dong, nearly 40 years old, has a bachelors degree and is an employee of the Liaohe Oil Field Company. He works diligently and is an energetic, capable and experienced employee. The local police, however, illegally sentenced him to a forced labor camp for persisting in his practice of Falun Dafa. In the autumn of 2003 Mr. Gao was transferred from the Panjin City Forced Labor Camp to the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp, where the police and collaborators (1) worked on him day and night to try to force him to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. To wear down his resistance, they assigned inmates to monitor and harass Mr. Gao without a break. Subjected to this long-term mental torture, Gao Dong felt dejected and oppressed. In the spring of 2004, he could not sleep for several days in a row and suffered a mental collapse. To avoid responsibility for his condition, the labor camp released Gao Dong for medical treatment. Furthermore, Director Liu falsely reported that Mr. Gao's practice of Falun Gong caused his psychological disorder.

He used to work in the Benxi City Cultural Bureau and had a cheerful disposition. Since he was sent to Benxi Forced Labor Camp a year ago, Mr. Wang has been tortured to the point that he displays dementia-like symptoms. The conniving police utilized his sister, a former practitioner who collaborated with the authorities, together with several other collaborators, to torture Mr. Wang. They used their combined strength to force his legs into a painful position for a long period of time. Under this extreme pressure, Mr. Wang gave in and renounced his belief in Falun Dafa, which upset him so profoundly that he has not been able to sleep well since. His work unit suspended his wages but kept him on in his former position. The pressure to earn a living and the humiliation of his situation have made Mr. Wang sink into a deep depression. He was sent to the Benxi City Mental Hospital for treatment. Director Liu again falsely attributed Mr. Wang's practice of Falun Gong as the cause of his psychological condition.

Mr. Xu Guowei, more than 40 years old, is a government employee in the Veteran's Bureau in Gai County, Yingkou City. He was transferred from the Yingkou City to the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp in the autumn of 2003. Since he firmly believes in Falun Dafa, Mr. Xu was placed in a high security "stretch room." His hands and feet were handcuffed to a frame; in this his body was stretched and placed flat onto the ground. He was totally dependent on others for all bodily needs. The torture lasted for 10 days. As a result, his arms lost feeling and were very painful, and he could hardly walk. After several days of rest, Mr. Xu still has not recovered.

Practitioners like Xu Guowei have been confined on several dozen occasions. The police reported that their facility was compliant with international humanitarian standards, while actually persecuting innocent practitioners very aggressively. They even arranged for collaborators to persecute Falun Gong practitioners using a variety of methods, including physical torture such as pressing their feet flat to the floor while forcing them to lie on their backs, severely humiliating them, and using a brainwashing technique called "damaging the Fa with the Fa."

Mr. Ma Ming, 33 years old, is an employee of the Liaohe Oil Field Company. Since Ma Ming was a determined practitioner, Li Yuehua, chief of the collaborators at Benxi City Labor Camp, along with several others, aggressively persecuted him. Liang threw Mr. Ma to the ground, then Jin Mingzhi hit and restrained his head, while Li Yuehua sat on his stomach to render him helpless. They then humiliated him for more than an hour. As a result, Ma Ming has become mentally disoriented. Director Liu insists that Falun Gong is the cause of his condition.

The policemen restrained female practitioners who were conducting hunger strikes on their beds and ordered the doctors to force-feed them. Female practitioners who refused to renounce their belief after their hunger strike were illegally sentenced to three years in a labor camp. One such practitioner, a doctor from a hospital in Benxi City, was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

To try to achieve so-called "results," the drug rehabilitation center of the labor camp often holds mandatory Falun Gong "transformation" classes. They claimed to have held more than 20 such sessions. This would indicate that many Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted. Up until the spring of 2004, the class was not held on a regular basis, so the authorities colluded with the Judiciary and Political Committee and the police department to motivate the police to abduct more practitioners. Since then, they have started to hold these classes regularly.
