A Highly Respected Woman from Helong Town, Donggang City, Liaoning Province, Suffers a Mental Breakdown As a Result of Torture While in Detention

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Shi Jinying is a thirty-five-year-old from Helong Town, Donggang City, Liaoning Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in the winter of 1998. During the course of cultivation, Ms. Shi improved herself physically and mentally. She always strictly required herself to act in accordance with the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" to be better person, and she was also well known in the community.

After the authorities began persecuting Falun Gong, Ms. Shi went to Dalian City to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested by the officials. After her release, she still clarified the true facts about Falun Gong to people in a peaceful manner. On the evening of April 14, 2003, she was reported to the police by a person who had been poisoned by the authorities' propaganda when she was clarifying the facts. Soon, she was abducted by the local police and was taken to the Donggang City Detention Center where Wang Runlung, the head of the Politics and Security Section in the Donggang City's Ministry of Public Security, and other policemen tried to force Ms. Shi to curse Falun Dafa and write the "Three Statements" (1). Ms. Shi firmly refused their demands. Wang Runlong was infuriated and sentenced Ms. Shi to two years of "re-education through forced labor" at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City without the benefit of a fair trial.

It was reported that Ms Shi has suffered many inhuman tortures including beating, sleep deprivation, squatting for a long time, wearing handcuffs, standing in the "flying the airplane" posture (2) and standing facing the wall for twenty days. Ms. Shi's legs were swollen so badly that blisters on her legs erupted with a yellow discharge. When Ms. Shi couldn't stand up any more, the merciless guards handcuffed her in a sitting position. When she couldn't sit any more, they handcuffed her on a "Dead Person's Bed" (3) until her life was in danger. In order to reduce their prison terms, criminals and "collaborators" (4) followed prison guard's' order and used different savage methods to torture Ms. Shi. Bruises covered her body. They persecuted her for a year for the sole purpose of forcing her to give up her belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."

In the spring of 2004, Ms. Shi's family received a notice from the labor camp telling them to pay the labor camp some money and take her home. When someone helped Ms. Shi walk out from the labor camp, she was absent-minded and had wounds all over her body. She couldn't remember anything and her family had to take care of her daily needs. She used to be a very beautiful and intelligent woman, but now she suffers from a mental breakdown and her face is permanently scarred due to the torture. The labor camp released her in order to shirk their responsibility. After Ms. Shi came home, she sat without any expression, just holding her hands. She broke down quite often. Even though her family income is small, they had to take her to the Changshan Mental Hospital for treatment. The high medical expense only added to the suffering of the family.

A good person has suffered such cruel torture. The Great Law of the universe will not tolerate this injustice. Jiang and his gang place themselves above China's Constitution and persecute innocent people. One day, they will receive karmic retribution for their crimes.

(1) "Three Statements" ¨C Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these statements as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office", the Three Statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who are practitioners.

(2) The "flying the airplane" posture ¨C Standing with one's back against the wall, one's head dropped forward, and both hands pulled up from behind.

(3) "Dead Person's Bed" ¨C The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of a cold metal bed, leaving the practitioner unable to move. He is not allowed to get up to eat, drink, or use the toilet. This treatment lasts from several hours up to several weeks. This type of torture causes severe mental and physical damage to the practitioner.

(4) "Collaborator" ¨C Former Falun Dafa practitioner who has given up his or her practice under severe pressure and torture and now assists the authorities in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.
