Jilin Prison Intentionally Fails to Notify Family that Practitioner Li Zhiyong is Critically Ill

(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of September 7, 2004, Li Zhiyong's family called the Jilin Prison and inquired about Li's current health condition. Wang, the manager of the Monitoring Department, answered, "Li Zhiyong is doing fine. Don't worry about him. We recently took him to the prison shop to look around."

His family was suspicious and called the hospital where Jilin Prison detainees are treated. They located Dr. Li, who had previously treated Li Zhiyong. He stated that, "Li Zhiyong's health condition hasn't improved at all. We used a hormone treatment. However, it didn't have any effect on his condition. Hormone medicines cannot be administered for very long, so we are reducing the dosage. Currently he has edema and his kidneys are not functioning very well. Actually his kidneys are failing and there is little that we can do. We have sent out a notice that he is critically ill. Haven't you received the notice? The prison should have released him because of his current condition. I don't know why he's still imprisoned, but there is nothing that I can do about this."

Li Zhiyong's family has decided to go to the prison to request his immediate release on a medical parole.
