Clarifying the Facts in New York City: Experiences and Observations

On August 30, we clarified the facts about Falun Dafa and the persecution on Wall Street. Many practitioners from other states performed the exercises with us. Numerous visitors were deeply attracted by the peaceful scene of practitioners doing the exercises. They were very interested, and some people continued taking photographs of us. We got fully involved in clarifying the truth to them. The visitors were from Germany, Spain, Italy, Israel, India and a number of other countries. We believe that after they understand the facts, they will bring the greatness of Falun Gong back to their countries and help the people there find out about the persecution of the Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China.

It was a very hot day, but we continued to hold up our banners. An older lady came over and carefully looked through all of our displays. Upon seeing the photos of the tortured practitioners, she began to cry. She asked us if she could do something for us. We told her that the best help she could give us would be to pass along the facts of Falun Dafa to more people, including her relatives, friends, people in Congress and the media. She looked at us closely, saying, "From the expression on your faces, I am very clear on what you are doing, I fully understand." She embraced the practitioners with a sincere heart.

We paid special attention to Fa study during the past few days. If we did not study the Fa well, we would have more human notions surfacing. If we did not cultivate ourselves well, it would be difficult for us to do well when clarifying the facts.

We did the exercises and handed out truth-clarification flyers on the other side of the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street. People in business suits coming from the Stock Exchange usually tended to look straight ahead and did not look at us. Many people refused to take our truth-clarification materials. We started to send forth righteous thoughts and stepped up trying to initiate a conversation in order to break through this , and began to learn how to use our insights to start a conversation. When the conversation started, the passers-by began to show more interest and were willing to take the printed information. Some of them even asked for the material and read it carefully. Their facial expressions reflected their changed attitude during the process of hearing the facts. Interference always exists, and we should maintain our righteous thoughts all the time.

At the beginning of handing out these flyers, the refusal rate for our handouts was quite high. I felt bad. Looking at the busy people passing by, I felt anxious. Thinking of their rare opportunity to get to know the truth -- which would be such a pity if they missed -- I sensed my great responsibility. Later on, I looked at the people walking by from afar; I looked at them and sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind them. I opened my heart to communicate with them. I felt my benevolence surging forth, moving ever forward. I just focused on offering salvation to these beings. Then, more and more people came to know the facts.

We also had times of disagreement among the practitioners. I felt discontent and discouraged at the beginning. Later on we sent forth righteous thoughts, studied the Fa and opened our minds to better exchange ideas. I felt my body becoming lighter and lighter during this process, which enabled me to put all my energy and effort into clarifying the facts. When we cooperated well with each other, the effect of clarifying the facts was very good.
