Early in the morning, a group of Falun Gong practitioners unfurled banners demanding an end to the persecution of Falun Gong on the sidewalk opposite the San Francisco Hilton, where Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua was staying.

Falun Gong practitioners also held a press conference in front of the hotel and announced the lawsuit against Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua for torture, which was filed by Falun Dafa Association and Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Xuefei who had been persecuted in Guangdong Province.

Duan Li, a Falun Gong representative, stated the reasons for filing the lawsuit against Huang Huahua.

Duan Li: "In recent years in Guangdong Province, in particular, in the several years when Huang Huahua was Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee Secretary and after he took the post as the Governor of Guangdong Province, the death toll in the persecution of Falun Gong was close to 100 [the correct number is 64]. Huang Huahua has requested a number of times to vigorously suppress Falun Gong under different kinds of circumstances. Those who persecute Falun Gong practitioners will be held accountable."

Atlanta citizen Ms. Zhou Xuefei originally lived at Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. Because she practiced Falun Gong, she was imprisoned in a labor camp for 3 years and 2 months. She was rescued to the U.S. in September, 2004. This time, she made a special trip to San Francisco to sue Huang Huahua.

Zhou Xuefei endured physical and mental torture that people could not even imagine when she was imprisoned in the labor camp.

Zhou Xuefei: "Any single method of torture in the labor camp was sufficient to make you feel that you'd rather die than live. The pain was tremendous. However, in the labor camp, they applied several methods of torture simultaneously on us. At the same time, they humiliated us, which caused extreme psychological pain. At that time, I thought in my mind, if I could leave that place alive, I would definitely sue them in the international court.

At present, from Jiang Zemin to Huang Huahua, at least 10 high-ranking Chinese officials have been sued by overseas Falun Gong practitioners.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Chen explained the reasons why they file lawsuits against those Chinese officials outside China.

Zhao Chen: "As for why we file lawsuits against these Chinese officials, it is because in Mainland China, practitioners do not have the opportunity. In China, if some attorney wanted to represent Falun Gong practitioners to file the lawsuit, the attorney himself would be imprisoned. Now we hope the lawsuit against Huang Huahua could awaken Mainland officials and they would stop persecuting Falun Gong. We hope they stop committing these kind of crimes.

Huang Huahua and his delegation will visit Canada after his trip to the U.S. It is reported that Canadian Falun Gong practitioners have already written letters to the Canadian government to demand that Huang Huahua be denied entry. Once Huang Huahua enters Canada, he might encounter another lawsuit by Canadian Falun Gong practitioners.

The above report is compiled from an interview recorded by RFA reporter CK.
