(Clearwisdom.net) Fan Yongcheng and his wife Lei Zhanxiang lived in the Jinchuan District of Jinchang City, Gansu Province, and started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Since July 20, 1999, they have been persecuted again and again because they have persisted in practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Fan was illegally sentenced to 12 years in prison and Ms. Lei has been homeless for the last five years.

Before July 20, 1999, the old couple's chronic and stubborn diseases were eliminated by practicing Falun Gong. Their children saw that their parents obtained good health and domestic harmony through the practice, and the whole family lived in peace and harmony.

Since July 20, 1999, their lives have been destroyed.

In January 2000, the couple went to Beijing to appeal to the authorities on behalf of Dafa. After returning home, they were detained. In the detention center, Mr. Fan couldn't eat. He vomited whatever he ate. Fifteen days later, when he had lost the ability to walk, he was released and sent home supported by two people.

One day in September 2000, Mr. Fan came across CCP Committee Secretary Qi Bin and two or three people from the Security Section of the Life Service Company. They deceived Mr. Fan, saying, "We have something to ask you. Let's take a ride in the car. You can return as soon as we have questioned you." They drove him directly to the Drug Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Fan was locked up for about 20 days for no reason.

Xu Fuyou (now Head of the Jinchang City Detention Center) and a person surnamed Xie abducted Ms. Lei and locked her up in the Jinchang City Detention Center for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Yongchang. Ms. Lei was set free 40 days later. One month later, Xu Fuyou and Xie once again broke into Ms. Lei's home, told her to bring her suitcase, and sent her directly to the detention center. Later she was transferred to the Jinchang City Drug Rehabilitation Center, where she was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Since she didn't pass the physical examination, she was sent back to the drug rehabilitation center. More than one month later, she was released because of her bad health.

One month later, as Ms. Lei was on her way to take a useless copy machine to a suburban school, she ran into Xie, who had been following her. When Xie found that she was carrying a copy machine, he immediately called Xu Fuyou. They again ransacked her home and detained her in the Lanzhoulu Police Station for one day. In the evening, they sent her to the Jinchang City Drug Rehabilitation Center. Hearing this news, Liu Chengye, Meng Jiaxian, and Li Xinhua from the Public Security Bureau, the TV station, and the Jinchuan Police Department, and Cai Xuexiao, Secretary of the Political Judiciary Committee of Jinchang District, and others were overjoyed. They thought that they had found a truth clarifying material production source and could take credit and get the reward. The TV station incessantly took shots of the scene. Meng Jiaxian asked Ms. Lei why she practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Lei answered, "Dafa is good so I want to practice." Meng said, "Just based on your words, we should lock you up [in the Jinchang City Drug Rehabilitation Center]." After being sent to the rrug Rehabilitation center, Ms. Lei went on a hunger strike for one week and was later set free.

In order to avoid harassment from police officers, the old couple hence started their homeless life. On September 9, the Yongchang Court illegally sentenced Mr. Fan to 12 years in prison. After being locked up for 100 days in the Dashaping Jail, Lanzhou City, he was transferred to the Wuwei Youth Discipline Center. He is currently locked up in the No. 8 Brigade. His wife Ms. Lei is still homeless.
