Letting Go of Ourselves and Saving Sentient Beings

(Clearwisdom.net) Time is fair to each and every cultivator. Within the same amount of time, some cultivators are able to do well, while some others have not done well the three things the Teacher talks about.

The differences reflect different states in cultivation. Every disciple knows that not much time is left in the Fa-rectification. But if we are still restricted by the time of the old universe, if we still can't get rid of human attachments and are unable to catch up with Teacher's Fa-rectification, how can we return home with the Teacher in consummation?

In Lecture One of Zhuan Falun, Teacher said,

"...the whole process of cultivation is a process of constantly getting rid of human attachments."

Even at the last stage before consummation, a cultivator still has attachments he hasn't eliminated. To put it frankly, he is still attached to the "self," from which he developed selfish thoughts. Just like Teacher said in a recent article,

"It can even be to the point that you know full well it's a test but still can't let go of your attachments." ("The Closer to the End, the More Diligent You Should Be")

We should realize that suffering hardship is a good opportunity to eliminate karma and improve oneself. Instead, they have slackened their will of diligence.

Only if a cultivator completely stops thinking about himself, is completely concerned about other people and saving sentient beings all the time, and eliminates the concept of "self," can he truly be immersed in this great Fa and become a being that meets the requirements of the Fa-rectification. When we slack off, have we thought about the large number of sentient beings who are waiting to learn the truth? When we send forth righteous thoughts, have we truly eliminated all the evil that harms the sentient beings of the universe? When we study the Fa, are we attached to how much we have enlightened from the Fa? When we are with fellow practitioners and family members, are we truly considerate of others in everything we do?

The moment I eliminated my selfish thoughts and reached a state of "no self," I came to better understand the Fa principles of the universe that Teacher taught. Just as Teacher said in "The Cosmic Orbit" in Lecture Eight of Zhuan Falun,

"You need to make all the energy channels in your body get wider and wider, make the energy stronger and stronger and brighter and brighter, and finally, at some point, have tens of thousands of energy channels merge together, achieving a state of no energy channels and no acupuncture points, with your entire body connected into a whole. That's the ultimate goal of opening the energy channels."

I have come to understand that at a lower level, the above passage talks about a state that one will reach in cultivation. At a higher level, it is the Fa's requirement for the practitioners in their cultivation. If every practitioner can reach the state of "tens of thousands of energy channels merge together, achieving a state of no energy channels and no acupuncture points," if they can all reach the requirement of the Fa, then the moment of Fa-rectification will arrive. Teacher has waited time and time again, because he does not want to leave behind any disciple. Yet we must reach the standard that Teacher has set for us.
