In Clarifying the Truth to Our Families We Must Display the Demeanor of Cultivators

(Clearwisdom.net) A practitioner was released after having been on hunger strike for fourteen days in a detention center. A few people carried him home and the first thing his wife said to him was: "You are so compassionate."

A practitioner's son, in middle school, was asked by his father's work supervisor, "Who do you hate the most for the persecution of your father?" The boy answered, "The CCP is so evil." The practitioner's heart of great compassion and forbearance moved all his family members, as well as the leaders of his work unit, who protected him with righteous thoughts later on.

It was the practitioner's kindness, compassion, pure heart, and great forbearance that moved his family members and supervisors. In his sharing, he said: "When I am diligent in cultivation, my family members understand Dafa well. When I am not diligent, they make trouble for me in validating the Fa." That is to say, whether or not family members can understand the truth and be supportive of Dafa is related to a practitioner's state of cultivation.

Dafa practitioners clarify the truth, not ordinary people. This needs to be understood from the perspective of the Fa. Within the family, a practitioner should display their kindness, compassion, purity, and great forbearance; be good to family members, try to put ourselves in their shoes, and let them feel the compassion of Dafa.

Teacher said in Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Washington DC Fa Conference:

People say that home is like a safe harbor, protecting oneself against the storm, and that one can do whatever one wants to at home. However, in practitioners' eyes, living in the secular world is like staying in a hotel for a few days. We should not be attached to this place. Thus, should we not continuously treat our family members with compassion? We are saving sentient beings who are poisoned by the evil lies. Our family members are also among those who need to be saved! If such lives are to be destroyed, it could well mean that a huge cosmic body will be ruined and numerous lives will be eliminated. Can we be responsible for the consequences of us not doing well?

It is important to take care in clarifying the truth to our family members. This is a part of cultivation. Inappropriate methods will lead to unsatisfactory results. We can send forth righteous thoughts before we clarify the truth to them, eliminate the evil obstacles, and talk to them by focusing on issues that concern them. In the process of clarifying the truth, we should not talk about topics at too high a level, and we should not get excited and irrational. Having a heart of saving sentient beings will help family members be saved.
